Dedicated to Makayla Thomas The Love of my Life I hope that the future you live in is one without any discrimination <3

Domestic Policies | Domestic policies are directly related to all issues and activity within a nation's borders. They're not to be confused with Foreign policies which shows how a government advances interest in world politics.

President Truman's policy of providing economic and military aid to any country threatened by communism or totalitarian ideology was listed in the Truman doctrine. On his platform that he presented to congress he listed 21 main policy points, including a minimum wage, guaranteed employment, medical insurance, housing aid, improved benefits for war veterans, and wage and price controls. | To the right are further examples of his policy

As time passed a lot more new rules were implicated into the domestic policies which did a lot to help people even today such as the social security act.

 Cold War

The picture to the left is a brief summary of the cold war. The cold war was basically started by America's fear of communism along with the soviet union's spread of it. With both of these conflicting beliefs none other then the cold war was started.

During the cold war many other things took place such as the space race, which was a test to see which side had better scientists, and the Korean War, which resulted in North and South Korea. The Cold War was a prolonged battle of wills and threats between Russia and the United States of America. There was never an actual military conflict, but instead each side came up with there own doctrines and worked on one upping one another.

One example of them one upping each other was in the race to arms in which the both sides would check up on the other and one up them creating bigger and badder bombs/weaponry. This can be depicted in the picture to the right.

Civil Rights | The Civil Rights movement was an act that tried to end discrimination and give equality to all whether the person is black or white, which was a big thing seeming as though during this time being black wasn't the best. White people had it better whether it be how they were treated or the things they were given access to.

The Civil Rights movement had many African American leaders such as Martin Luther King Jr, Malcolm X, and Rosa Parks. They each stood up for what they believed in and found a way to make their voices heard through peace or sometimes violence.

I guess you could say discrimination was a disease and the cure to that was Civil Rights. Even as a young child I can recall a quote from a show I watched called pokemon. A character states the following, "We do have a lot in common, the same earth, the same air, the same sky. Maybe if we looked at what was the same instead of what was different, well who knows..." and that always touched me and as a child helped me to not discriminate maybe if that show played back then everyone would have learned a thing or two about how to treat one another.
