4: In February, I flew up to Michigan to see baby Aubrey. She was born on January 23rd. I was able to ride over to Grand Rapids with Holly, and we spent several days hanging out with the Foxes. We had a great time cuddling with our precious new niece, and playing with Brady.

28: Our Christmas Adventure | There was snow predicted for the South on Friday, December 18th. Our drive up to Michigan was planned for Saturday, December 19th. We figured we had better get a head start on our drive so that we wouldn't get snowed in. and be unable to travel. Nana and Papa Gee's Christmas party was on Sunday, the 20th and we didn't want to miss it. So around 1:30 pm that Friday, after a crazy morning spent running around the house packing, we left. The snow was already starting to fall, but we didn't think it would cause us much trouble. After all, we're from Michigan, right? We're used to it......
29: Our first stop soon after we entered Virginia consisted of simply sitting in traffic for several hours . Once we got going again, we stopped to get gas and more snacks. The daylight was leaving us, and the roads were getting more and more treacherous,. So we called every motel in the area. No vacancy. Before getting back on the interstate, we even passed by a motel way up on a hill whose sign said "Vacancy". But we didn't think our van would even make it up the hill. So we proceeded to move on,....slowly... until we got to the red light at the entrance to the West Virginia Tunnel. We were the 2nd car in line, and it was about 7:00. A cattle truck pulled up in the lane beside us.... | Little did we realize at that time that this was where we were to spend the night. The tunnel was closed until daylight. Rob kept the van idling most of the night to keep us warm, and thankfully we had plenty of blankets and pillows. The smell from the cattle truck beside us was interesting at times. The kids did great, and slept off/on until about 6am, when the red light turned green. We never were so excited to see a light change! I don't think we'd ever eaten that much at breakfast when we stopped. Our journey through West Virginia was still slow-going because of the road conditions, but we were moving! We made it to Michigan in time for dinner, about 27 hours after we'd left home.
30: Nana Gee had been praying for us the last two days, and everyone was so thankful that we were safe. What a story we had to tell their family that day.
39: But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD." Joshua 24:15
