DAN: The definition of man's best friend. He enjoyed staying up late and hanging out with his buddies, sleeping in, and always being by the side of his best friend, wherever their adventure would lead them. May you never get sprayed by another skunk again...Miss you buddy Matiss Silins

My fondest memory of dear DannyBoy is him playing for hours with Bootsie. This may seem like a meaningless memory or incident, but as the owner of Bootsie, it sure isn't an insignificant act. Bootsie was an alpha bitch & was likely to snub you, fight you for your food. Submitting wasn't an option, play was something she rarely did. DannyBoy had the threat less touch, the friendly stature, the fun vibe that allowed her to not only play together, but wrestle for hours. I was definitely thankful for Danny Boy and his impact on my dog. Spencer Lyman

I'll always remember a specific look on Dan's face; when he and Mal lived in Toronto. Danny and I went to the beach - him on foot, I was on roller blades. I never walked or ran a dog while on blades before, so I was very cautious, but up for the adventure. Danny was experienced at this with Malbos. We took our time, got to the beaches, and hung out at the park. A while after a serious storm set in. Being on roller blades and wet pavement is really awkward and dangerous. I thought; blades off and street car or we sprint! 5km sprinting - we raced home. I think Danny would start to ease up sometimes out of disbelief, or habit! I'd give a tug and he'd find yet another gear. He was a real marathoner. We went all out, all the way home. We did it! Just as we turned onto our street it poured rain. We flopped onto the porch exhausted. and for the rest of the day Danny looked at me as if he was saying "Al, we've been friends for a while, but now I'm in love with you!" I was so lucky to have that date with Dan, and so many times with Mal and Dan at riverside Park, where he made many friends. I remember the first day when Mal introduced Dan to all of us. He was so excited to meet each one of us as he introduced himself, and made his love available. - Al Bee

Danny Boy, I'm so glad I got to meet you a bit while I was over there and thanks for helping your mum and I build the snow bird. Chasing lots of squirrels and rabbits, beautiful boy. Gerlinde Evans Danny Boy found my precious Shadow. Sweet angel I will remember you always at the cottage! Aubrey Jane Beautiful Boy. Walks in the snow. Nights on the sofa. Using Danny as a pillow. Seeing the love between Danny and Gypsy-Rose. And SINGING...yes SINGING with a dog! Such a beautiful boy and what a voice! Lisa Tyson I have never seen two sweet dogs so close that they're attached at their hips....literally, back to back, neither willing to let go of the other...Danny there is no other for Gypsy...I'm still wowed! Malcolm your best buddy was sweet, adorable, happy...and most definitely the MAN! Donna Bee Danny, I loved you and your loud, friendly greetings. I'm not even sure you knew you were a dog! I loved sharing the couch with you, hanging out on the front porch and the backyard. especially watching you play with you best friend Gypsy-Rose. You were a great dog and a great , happy furry Buddy Alison Lane-Beveridge I Will always remember our little pack of puppies in the cottage basement at Christmas. Katharine Bachner My Danny memory is about the wedding. Watching Maza and Danny enjoy the day together was lovely. Danny was a very sweet dog and the overall feeling every time I saw him was of a sweet soul. Liene Kirss

I met Danny the day Malcolm brought him home. He wasn't too sure of his surroundings, but even then he was as sweet as can be. I asked if I could take him for a little walk by myself so we could get to know each other. I remember that first walk so well - the the mailbox down the street. He PULLED and PULLED like he had never been taken for a walk, but he wasn't trying to get away - he was just so excited about exploring his surroundings. That's kind of how Danny was - just happy to be with everyone, exploring his surroundings. Learning how to play catch. Learning how to communicate with the humans around him. It's amazing how quickly he went from being that nervous doggie to the lovely, chilled out buddy as we all know him. I really believe he and Malbos were soul mates, in a sense, and I'm so glad they had each other. I'll miss him very much, but as with all the furry creatures that come into my life, I'm mostly just happy to have known him. - Staceroo

 Old Man Blanket

The one memory that stands out is when I drove up to Ottawa with Mal and Fern with Danny. Danny somehow kicked me out of my spot and I spent the rest of the trip (we hadn't even passed Belleville) sitting on the ground between everyones feet. Danny looked very comfy. But I would give up my seat anytime for DannyBoy. Another Memory for me was Danny & Maza running around with flower crowns around their necks at Tiss and Stacey's wedding. They were so pooped out by the end of the night they decided that sleeping in the middle of the dance floor was the best spot. Tamara Kirss My fond memory of Danny goes way back. it was the first time I met him. Malcolm poured me a cold beer at his place and we had settled in for one of those long, philosophical conversations about the meaning of life, when I began to notice Danny looking thoughtful, Was he bored. I wondered - wanting a run? a beer? He was a dog, after all, and I was just the mom of one of Mal friends, But then I realized he was just happy hanging out with Mal, wherever, whenever, with whomever, having a good gab and a good laugh. And what more could a friend want!! Danny was the best Kae McColl

Danny was my buddy. I hadn't seem him in years at one point, and he still remembered exactly who I was. So many stories, yet what comes to mind, and Mal will remember this, is when our group of friends went up to Tobermory and did the Bruce trail hike; Danny was no lap dog, he was a mission dog. All day he was hoofing it with us up and down big rocks, over and under trees, being our point man and just generally doing what a good dawg does...looking out for ya, being your pal. When we finally got back to the cars, Danny was sooooo done. He climbed up into the back of the 4runner with help from Mal, and then proceeded to zonk out all the way back to Ottawa. He was basically comatose, a well deserved rest. Krisjanis Silins
