1: "When we come home, it should be to a place we are able to enjoy fully, every minute of every single day.” - Ed Mocnik | dehaan residence renovation 850 w 19th avenue, vancouver

2: The goal of this renovation was to increase the square footage of the building, and modernize the house. The end result featured an upgrade from one small bathroom, to two roomy bathrooms and an en suite, as well as the re-working of the downstairs space to create a more open configuration in the floor plan. The original stained glass windows in the living room were preserved, adding a touch of charm and character to the finished product. The kitchen was upgraded from a cramped, and dated room, to a modern, spacious area. The island was the finishing touch to make this new designer area the perfect hub for entertaining guests, whether it be for a casual gathering, or pre-dinner drinks at a formal dinner.

17: lower level layout | The interior of the existing house was gutted, and the exterior walls were preserved during the construction process. This enabled us to keep the original characteristics of the house, yet also gave us a clean slate to build something that met the needs of the home owners. | 18 | The new construction on the interior sought to create open spaces, and rooms that flowed naturally into each other.

18: upper level layout | The entire upper floor space and roof were removed, and with the extra area that was created, a walk-in closet, en suite, bathroom and one extra bedroom were able to be added. | The original upper level of the house was loft-styled, with sloped walls to accommodate the roof, and contained two bedrooms.
