FC: Our Tiny Miracle
18: 2.18.11 We experienced a miracle on this day. At 32 weeks we were rushed to the hospital and told that today was the day that Delaney would come into this world. We were terrified of the unknown. Was she too early? What complications would we face? From the moment we left the doctors office and drove to the hospital there were people praying. Praying for protection, comfort and peace. I have never felt such peace as I did on this day. God wrapped His arms around me and held me close. He kept me strong. At 4:42pm I delivered Delaney via emergency c-section. Delaney was rushed to the NICU and hooked up to a CPAP machine. She had a tube in her mouth, an IV for antibiotics and heart and oxygen monitors. She weighed in at 3lbs 6oz and 16.75 inches long. She was tiny and feisty from the moment she was born. We were overwhelmed with emotion. Scared, excited and a little shocked that this all really happened. Tom was calm and my rock through it all. After spending 3 weeks and 3 days in the St. Francis NICU we were able to bring her home. Delaney amazed the doctors and nurses in the NICU. They couldn't believe her progress. She overcame every possible obstacle with flying colors.
19: I thought of this song often during those first few days in the hospital. It Is Well With My Soul When peace like a river, attendeth my way When sorrows like sea billows roll; Whatever my lot, Thou hast taught me to say It is well, it is well, with my soul. God's timing is perfect. His plan is greater than our own. Delaney, so tiny, has made such an impact on so many lives already. I can't wait to see what her future holds in this big world. Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
