FC: Walt Disney Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter May 24 - 29, 2011 | Disney Vacation 2011
First stops--Port Orleans Resort & Magic Kingdom
Seeing Magic Kingdom for the first time! Jacks called it "Mickey's Castle." | We happened upon a show starring Mickey and all of his friends upon our arrival at MK. Jacks was in awe! | 5/24/11
Jacks was given a "Happy Birthday" button when we arrived at our resort. He wore it all afternoon, and everyone greeted him with a "Happy Birthday!" The show in front of Cinderella's castle was a truly magical experience for Jackson. He kept waving to the characters and smiling and clapping for them.
We got to meet Winnie the Pooh Bear and his friends at Crystal Palace in Magic Kingdom. Jacks had so much fun having each of them sign his autograph book. He said his favorite character that he met there was "the piggy." He said, "She's cute!"
Pooh Bear and his friends made sure that Jacks had a cupcake to celebrate his birthday. He was THRILLED and had a fun time being sung to and blowing out his candle. Pooh and his friends also gave Jacks a birthday card that they all signed. | 3
Jackson's first ride in MK was Aladdin's Magic Carpet Ride. He had so much fun and kept screaming "Magic Carpet Ride!!!!"
When we got home from our first day in the parks, there was a message for Jackson on the phone in our room. It was Mickey and Minnie Mouse wishing him a Happy Birthday! He smiled so big when he heard it, and we listened to it over and over again throughout the whole trip! What a special treat!
Second day in the parks! We headed to Disney's Hollywood Studios. Kyle headed off to ride a couple roller coasters, and Jacks and I set out to meet a few more characters. He was so excited to hand them his autograph book and pen! | 5/25/11
One really fun thing we did at Hollywood Studios was watch Disney Junior Live on Stage. It was a fun show that followed the basic story line of the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse episodes. Other Disney shows were incorporated into the production. Jackson had a blast, and it was nice to take a break in the air conditioning.
 Hollywood Studios
Jacks had a blast in the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids playground. He especially loved getting squirted by the giant Super Soaker and going down the Kodacolor slide. We also rode Toy Story Mania, which is a new ride at Hollywood Studios. It was so much fun!
The American Idol Experience was really fun! It was an interactive show with a host, judges, and contestants. Super fun to watch! It was also a welcomed break to sit in the air conditioning. :) | More Hollywood Studios fun!
 Dinner at Chef Mickey's--Contemporary Resort
More characters at Chef Mickey's. Jacks made sure to always have his auto. book and pen ready.
We capped off our great day at Hollywood Studios with Fantasmic, a light and firework show. Kyle and I saw the show when we went to Disney World in 2007 and were really excited to bring Jackson to see it. The one little problem was that we forgot that it was not exactly kid-friendly. There were lots of scary parts, and Jackson leaned over to us and said, "This is kinda scary. Let's go." Lol...so we did! | Fantasmic
Epcot is such a beautiful park! We had a great time watching shows, seeing the sights, and eating at Le Cellier--the steak house in "Canada." It was such a fun day! | 5/26/11 | Epcot
 Epcot continued...
5/27/11 Park Opening @ Animal Kingdom
Kyle and Jackson went on the safari and got to see lots of animals! Jackson said his favorite animal that he saw was a baby elephant. He said, "She was cute!"
Jackson got to meet more characters at Animal Kingdom! Kyle had fun riding Everest, and we enjoyed riding a few rides and watching several shows. The Nemo musical was amazing! | Meeting Chip and Dale!
That night, we headed back to Magic Kingdom to see the fireworks show. Jackson absolutely loved it! Of course, it was hard to capture great pictures of the fireworks, but we will never forget how Jacks was clapping and smiling and loving it so much! He kept shouting out and cracking us up. Fun times!
On our last full day in Disney World, we headed back to Magic Kingdom to finish off where we started. We got a great picture of Jacks in front of the castle and tried to re-take it w/o people in the background, but Jacks thought enough was enough! :) | 5/28
Jacks and Kyle had fun driving a race car and riding the tea cups. We convinced Jacks to try one more 3D show, but he and I ended up walking out early. He just couldn't get over the thought that things were flying at his nose trying to get him.
Peter Pan was the last character Jacks took a picture with. It was such a fun and memorable experience to see him enjoy meeting all the characters. Peter Pan was joking around with him, and Jackson didn't really know what to say.
One of the highlights of our trip was getting to see Emily and Casey. They drove over from Tampa to hang out with us for the night. We ate dinner at the Port Orleans Riverside Resort restaurant. It was really yummy, Louisiana style food. It did us all good since none of us live in Louisiana anymore. After dinner, we rode the boat from the resort to Downtown Disney. We had fun walking around and hearing music and just being together.
On our last day of vacation, we spent some time walking around our resort that morning, snapping pictures and taking it all in one last time before heading over to the Riverside resort to spend the day.
More photos from our resort - The Port Orleans Resort -- French Quarter
Cruising around the Port Orleans - Riverside Resort. We rented a small boat and had a BLAST! | From the water - the amazingly fun water slide at our resort. We had so much fun playing in the pool here.
After we finished up our fun morning at the Port Orleans - Riverside, we headed back to our resort to change and get ready to head to the airport. While we were waiting, we played some arcade games. Jacks loved it (as he did EVERYTHING on this trip!) | Our sad pic. This was the vacation of a lifetime! So many fun memories made. It couldn't have been better!
Some of our favorite memories from our Disney World Vacation: 1. Riding the monorail to Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary Resort. Jackson loved how fast it went. We really enjoyed our character dinner, too! 2. Having a "Dole Whip" in Magic Kingdom. as we watched a show in front of the castle...yum! 3. Listening to Mickey & Minnie's birthday message to Jackson 1000 times and it never getting old. 4. The wonderful time we had at the resort - how clean and serene it was, how much it reminded us of Louisiana, how laid back and low key it was, and how much fun we had playing in the pool with the fun slide on our breaks from the park. Kyle also enjoyed getting a milkshake almost every night! 5. Seeing Jacks' face light up every single time he met a character or rode a fun ride. 6. Getting to see the park opening festivities at Animal Kingdom. 7. Taking breaks in the air conditioned to watch really great shows! 8. Not really having a plan but doing and seeing so much AND relaxing! Perfect way to do Disney. :)
