FC: A Vacation with CHARACTER | with | at
This book is dedicated to all the meals we enjoyed and the characters we spotted on our Aug. 2010 family reunion to DisneyWorld. Let me begin by saying that all of us in the Johnsons, Jeffries, Gwynnes and Stephensons are kids at heart, but none more than myself. As the planner and organizer for this trip I had a lot of fun planning our meals and days to meet as many characters as possible. I particularly enjoyed when the characters zeroed in on Connor and Hunter as the youngest of our family and Mike as the most bashful! No help from me... I promise.
Breakfast at Ohana in the Polynesian was wonderful. Hunter loved Lilo and Stitch. Everyone got into the spirit and had a fabulous family style breakfast.
The Polynesian was a beautiful resort. Mike and I returned several times throughout the trip.
Let's face it...any trip you go on you take time to plan out a meal or two. This trip it took months of planning to figure out the meal schedule and hundreds of changed reservations.
Hunter was so sad waiting his turn to meet Goofy, Donald, Mickey, Minnie and Pluto.
Mom got into the action with a hug for her favorite characters.
Boogie Time! Hunter, Aunt Boo and Pluto get down. I can admit it...we look like total dorks.
We had a character breakfast almost every morning of our 12 day trip. The buffets were nearly all the same and some of the characters too. One of my favorite was the breakfast at Chef Mickey's on our second morning at the World. We went with my mom, Marian, Patrick and of course Hunter Lee. Afterwards, Mom, Hunter, Mike and myself headed to Animal Kingdom. Marian and Patrick headed off for mother/son time-aka...nap time.
Mike and I first ate at Le Cellier with mom on Wednesday night. We loved it so much we made another reservation for the next week. We got the same thing both times: the filet. Can you say YUM.
 The Crystal Palace
 Thursday Aug. 2010
 The Crystal Palace
Our first and ONLY day all together in the park. We had breakfast at The Crystal Palace , lunch at Cinderella's Royal Table and a late night cruise aboard The Dream One Yaght. It was truly a magical day I will never forget. I thought it might get a little crazy trying to organize 10 adults and 2 kids, but things went pretty smooth except when Marian showed up late for lunch. You will notice she is not in the formal pics with Cinderella. Our first ride together after breakfast was the Jungle Cruise. A great classic to introduce my family to classic Disney.
 Everyone Loves a Princess
Dude, She touched me! | She likes me!
 Ariel | Ariel
We had scooter trouble on the way to Donald's Safari, but it was worth the wait. Donald and friends were really ready to put on a show.
Donald's Safari This was our first day without my family. Bart flew out early that morning. Mom, Marian, Patrick and Hunter were hitting the road. We stopped at Donald's Safari for breakfast then Mike and I spent some time alone waiting for his new scooter-Jasen Solo. Though I missed my family I was very happy to be hitting the parks with some Disney veterans. Connor enjoyed being the center of attention again and Mike and I enjoyed a little quiet time at The Animal Kingdom.
A few days later we were back to the Polynesian for the first of three dinner shows. The Spirit of Aloha was a entertaining Hawaiian show. My favorite part was the rabbit that ran on stage un-expectantly and the fire dancer. The fresh pineapple and sweet Hawaiian bread was too die for. Mike and I caught up with Bill at the hotel and he followed us to the Polynesian. We met Tami, Harold, Carol, and Connor at the show. It was HOT! We had to wait for about 45 min. in a small area. Connor enjoyed the dancing, but was ready to go back to the pool with Mike and Linda for sleep over.
Mike and I really enjoyed our evening with Connor. We took a ferry boat back to the hotel and then went for a long swim.
Breakfast with my two favorite characters... Goofy too. | Connor hates hats, but he was determined to get his own Mickey Ears.
Connor's first hidden Mickey. He made it himself.
Mike, Connor and I had a ton of fun at Cape May Cafe. The characters were in rare form... dare I say...goofy?
The Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Review was hands down our favorite show. It was perfectly timed and extremely funny. We really enjoyed when Harold got on stage as a fairy.
Grand Floridian 1900 Park Fare | Pooh | Tigger | Eeyore | Mary Poppins | Alice | Mad Hatter
The Stephensons hit the The Grand Floridian on their first day and the rest of us didn't get to it until much later in the week. By far the fanciest hotel and one we enjoyed. By this time we were all getting tired of Mickey Waffles and perhaps each other. But everyone played along as Pooh, Tigger, Alice, Mary Poppins and the Mad Hatter made their way around. Tigger and Pooh went around and gave everyone hugs...whoses crazy idea was that...oh right...ME!
& | We went on different days, but we all had fun eating breakfast at the Grand Floridian.
Is that a bald spot I see?
One of Connor's favorite restaurants was Hollywood and Dine at Hollywood Studios. He ran into some of his favorite TV friends. One of Mike's favorites was The Sci-Fi Diner also at Hollywood Studios. The food was great and the atmosphere was 110% realistic. We will absolutely go back, but make reservations because it is popular. We went to The Beigarten in Epcot's Germany with my family, but did not really enjoy it. Tami and gang went for lunch their last day and thought it was fabulous.
 Hollywood and Dine
 Pizza Delivery Disney Style
The Biergarten | Last Day at the Happiest Place on Earth for Tami, Harold, Carol, Bill and Connor.
On our last night, Mike and I went to Mickey's Backyard BBQ at Fort Wilderness. This was our least favorite show, but the food was good. We left early, but would return if we ever have kids.
During our 2 week trip we met up with a few characters. Hunter and Connor had fun getting autographs, but Mike and I just enjoyed hanging with old friends. Ok. I loved getting my picture with Mickey and friends. Mike just went along because he loves me. Secretly, I think he liked it too. Ever heard the saying..."kid at heart?"
Connor, Mike and I caught up with Davy Crockett Donald in Frontier Land. We tried to convince Carol and Tami to get in the pictures too, but it wasn't happening.
Mike and I were hanging out on our last day at the Magic Kingdom. We found Daisy and Goofy in the town square. I think Daisy had the hots for Mike. Just look how close she is to him.
We didn't get to see Fantasmic this time around, but luckily Mike, Connor and I found Sorcer Mickey hanging out in Disney's Animation Courtyard. We had a ton of fun hanging out together while we waited to meet Mickey. Tami and Harold met up with us around the same time. Lotso from Toy Story 3 was right next door, but Connor didn't really want to wait any longer and to be honest neither did we!
Some of our favorite characters are from Pixar movies. We got lucky and just happened across Lightening and Mater after seeing a show with the family. We came across Sully behind a little store. We tried to see Woody and Buzz, but we weren't willing to wait 2 hours!
the need for | the need for
Mike, Sully and Boo. Together again.
Mike and I were waiting at the World Showcase for Illuminations. I got hungry and went to look for something to eat and came across Pooh and Tiger in England. They were all alone. I thought I would stop by and say hello.
Mike and I came across Epcot's Character Spot at the end of our last day. Mike was sweet enough to wait 45 minutes with me to see the Fab 5: Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto and Goofy.
 PLUTO | g o o d d o g | woof | woof | woof
 gawrsh | I didn't do it
