1: Day 1: The Plane | "AHHHH!! It's FINALLY here!! I have been looking forward to this trip for months! Today I went to school and learned NOTHING! Oh well! We drove to Atlanta and took off for Madrid! It is absolutely GORGEOUS from up here!! I'm so excited about this trip! God's going to do some amazing things!!"
3: Day 2: Madrid | "The sun pouring in the windows of the plane this morning was GORGEOUS! Mr. Humes picked us up from the airport, and we went to their house after touring their town of Camarma. After resting a while, we left around 1:00 and went into downtown Madrid. It was BREATHTAKING! We bought some stuff and then went to a prayer meeting. For one hour we just sat and prayed for the people of Madrid. So cool!! Afterwards we went into Plaza del Sol and street preached. It was one of the most amazing things I have ever done!"
5: A walk in downtown Madrid We walked through Madrid, bought stuff, and just stood and looked at everything going on... it was incredible!! The culture there is so different, yet very very cool!
6: Plaza del Sol
7: The prayer meeting was AMAZING!!!!
8: best friends... forever!
9: Day 3: Camarma and the Basque Region | "Well we have only been here 2 days and already I love this trip! I never want to go home!! This morning we toured Camarma on foot, and then Mr. Bonikowsky came to pick us up. He drove us to his house in the Basque Country, stopping at Segovia on the way. Absolutely incredible! When we arrived, late Friday night, we went straight to a split session in the Bonikowsky's church...then it was off to bed! Such a fun day!"
11: A Walk through Camarma. . .
12: Walking through Camarma
15: Day 4: Bonikowsky's farmhouse | "This morning we woke up to the smell of delicious chocolate chip toast! So good! After we lounged around, laughed alot, and got ready, we drove up to the Aierdi farmhouse. We ate lunch and heard the miracle story about how the Bonikowskys got the farmhouse. The youth activity was fun! Lots of trying to catch the Spanish, and playing games. We eventually went back to the apartment. Such a fun day!!"
19: Day 5: Basque Region | "Today was a rainy, foggy, but BEAUTIFUL day! We awoke early, ate some more chocolate toast, and headed off to church. To start the services, Mr. Bonikowsky would just start singing and everyone would join in as they found their seats. After church, we fellowshipped with the Humes over lasagna. So much laughter at that table!! :) Tonight we went to the older Mr. Bonikowsky's church for a special baptism and communion service."
23: Day 6: Cheloudtchenko's house and La Rochelle | "Mr. Nelson picked us up around 10 this morning and drove us to his house in La Rochelle, France. Along the way, we stopped in to visit the Cheloudtchenkos. Mr. J.J. has leukemia, but uses his sickness as a witnessing tool! We ate a very big lunch. (including salad, duck, roast, cheese, and pie) Since it was getting late, we cut our visit a bit short and continued our journey. Will really wanted to see the coast, so Mr. Nelson let us stop and see the ocean on our way to his house. Around 8:45 we finally got to the Nelson's. After eating supper, it was straight to bed!"
27: Day 7: La Rochelle | "This morning was a lazy morning. Mom and Dad went to see an elderly lady in the Nelson's church, and we chilled at the house. When they came back, we ate lunch and then embarked on our Reformation tour around La Rochelle. It was SO much fun! Back at the house, we had Raclette for supper, played Uno, watched "Bee Movie", and then sleep!"
31: Day 8: The train and Paris | "Today we headed to Paris!! We left on a train- from the same station that Jews were sent to concentration camps from in World War 2. The history in the town is incredible! The train ride took 2 1/2 hours and then we arrived in Paris. We met up with the Carls and saw our AMAZING apartment! I want to stay here forever! :) Later tonight we hit the Louvre and then the Eiffel Tower. There were no lines in either of them! We went up to the tippy top of the Eiffel Tower and saw all of Paris spread out below! It even started snowing!! AMAZING!"
35: Day 9: Paris!! | "Happy Thanksgiving! Well, we planned to wake up early and go to Versailles, but instead we just relaxed and went later. By the time we got there we were starving, so we all decided to hit a cafe for Thanksgiving dinner. Well, that took too long. So we got up and left and ate lunch at McDonalds! Around 3 we walked to Versailles. It was frigid! But very cool!! We took a train back to downtown Paris and walked the Champs Elysees! AMAZING!!!! At the end of the street was the Arc of Triumph where we watched the Eiffel Tower twinkle.. Paris is breathtaking!!
39: Day 10: Paris | "This morning we really did wake up early and go to the Arc. We climbed the stairs, stood in awe at the view, and then walked back to the Eiffel Tower. Its gorgeous in the daytime as well! Next was Sainte Chapelle (a chapel where the entire second floor is stained glass windows!) Then came Notre Dame and Sacre Coeur. There was a family (the Franklins) that gave us some museum passes and metro tickets. They invited us to dinner, so we went to their house for supper. After we got back home, Mr. Lewis made Italian hot chocolate! A great last day in Paris!
43: Day 11: Vienna | "Whew! This morning we got up at 5:15 and took a taxi to the airport. We flew to Vienna and arrived safely! Mr. Hudson and Nate picked us up, and we went to the Hudson's church and helped decorate for Christmas. We took public transportation home, and the rest of the day was spent relaxing, playing the piano, talking, playing games, facebook, etc. etc. Lots of fun! The girls and I were up late into the night talking! It was great to be back with friends here! :)
47: Day 12: Vienna | "Sunday again! We ate some breakfast and then started the trek to church. My shoes were more like slippers and very painful to walk in, so Mr. Hudson let us ride in the van. Church was very cool. We listened in the English service and then during the German service we set up for the church lunch. SO yummy!! We went back to the Hudson's house and at 4:00 they had Youth4Truth. It was exciting and very fun! We played "signs" afterwards and it was very intense!! After everyone left, we watched "Court Jester" and headed off to bed!"
51: Day 13: Vienna | "6 inches of snow! It was great- especially for us! We had snowball fights and sledded. We went back to the house and chilled and watched some Julian Smith videos and played the piano. At 4:00 we went to the Christmas market!! GORGEOUS! but FREEZING!! We went shopping and then to an Asian buffet. After repacking, we went to bed. I'm not ready to go home!!!"
55: Day 14: Camarma | "Today we woke up and went straight to the airport. We flew to Majorca (am island in the Mediterranean) and then to Madrid. When we arrived in Madrid, the sign telling us where the baggage claim is was wrong. So we walked all the way to the wrong end... lots of walking!! Mr. Humes picked us up and we went back to his house. It was a pretty uneventful day. We ate our supper and watched Christmas movies with them and headed to bed for our last night in Europe!"
59: Day 15: HOME!! | "AHHH!! It's the last day!! This trip has positively FLOWN by! Hard to believe that two weeks ago, I was sitting in school! SO much has happened since then! We went straight to the airport this morning and arrived in Atlanta safe and sound! This trip has been INCREDIBLE! I will never be able to forget this for as long as I live!"
