S: 60 Things We Love About You
FC: 60 Things We Love About YOU
To Dad & Grandpa on his 60th Birthday February 11th, 2014
 2. He shows us what being a Dad is REALLY all about. Faith, family, fun, work ethic, commitment to spouse and kids. | 1. He always makes time for us as his children despite his busy schedule. Whether playing catch in the backyard years ago or taking time to talk about our businesses today, Dad always seems to have the time for us. | 3. He makes the BEST spaghetti sauce.....and he makes it just for me!
 4. He has broad, broad, broad shoulders. Have you ever seen someone lead and comfort so many people during the most difficult times? Dad guided and showed not only our immediate family, but extended family as well, how to pray and trust that God is in charge despite our humanly desires.
"You don't choose your family. They are God's gift to you, as you are to them." - Desmond Tutu | 5. He'll drive 9 hours by himself through Nebraska, South Dakota and Iowa in any season at any time to spend time with us in Iowa. | 6. I hate to say it, but his "my beer!" or loud "ohhh" reactions to slipping or spraining an ankle. Good times (because the injuries have been minor of course:)!
 7. His positive attitude. "God is good!!" I can hear him saying this all the time. And how "blessed" we are! He helps us all find the good and positives in everything!
 8. Watching how dedicated he is to his family, ALL of his family. The Trautmans, The Mohrs, his church family, the Walkers, all of us and even my family (the Mrkvicka's). He makes a dedicated and concerted effort to be involved in ALL of these "families".
 9. His love for his grandkids. He will drop everything and anything to make time for them and make them a priority. It's inspiring and awesome to have Grandparents like this! Watching him interact with the kids and love every minute he is doing it is so much fun to watch. I feel truly Blessed!
 10. How much he has taught me about love, commitment, dedication, grief, loss and how to turn to God through it ALL!! He has taught us all about trust in God and His plan for our lives and how to turn together to prayer to get through tough times! This might be the most meaningful thing he has and will ever teach me, my family and my children who had the opportunity to watch and learn how to openly love, grieve, show emotion and love God through the hard times.
 11. His amazing ability to NEVER sleep, yet ALWAYS have energy. I'm not sure how he does it, but he's the one person I can assume I can call or talk to anytime, day or night and he will BE THERE! | 12. That he learned how to play Cribbage :)
 13. His love for the mortgage industry and passing that on to me, but most importantly, believing in me and being proud of me in EVERYTHING I do! | 14. His memory of dates, any date, he can stop in his tracks and tell you the date and year! I bet right now, he could tell you the date he 1st changed my diaper :-)
 16. His supportive nature, whether supporting one of us kids, the grandkids or his wife - he always does it with a smile and positive outlook! I will forever remember 2013 as the year I was able to witness my Dad doing what he did best (loving and supporting my Mom). I am amazed at who he is and the example of Jesus, when he showed us all how to handle grief, trials and fears by turning it over t God! | 15. His ability to "watch" sports - I still share this favorite NAP time! | 17. His instant weather indicator of how cold it is - if you ever wonder how cold it is, just look at where Dad's shoulders are - the higher they are the colder it is!
 18. His willingness to call my husband and give him my number. I bet neither him or my Mom would have ever imagined where that phone call would take us and I am so thankful he did that! Thanks a million Dad!
 19. Always willing to lend a hand (or van) to a family member, friend or stranger. | 20. A mentor on how to speak to God anytime of the day or night. | 21. Loves his Grandkids with all his heart

Father-in-law and more importantly family! Loving, caring, giving.... couldn't have asked for a better person to follow in his footsteps.
