FC: Film Production Mikela Anderson April 30,2010 Quality Education Academy

In the course of my apprenticeship I learned the value of supervising and conducting both film and stage productions. (set of Jaleesa- a short film assistant directed by Mikela Anderson.

My mentor, Mister Nathan Ross Freeman, native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and independent film maker. Mister Freeman has been my mentor and boss for a year. During the course of this year i have learned to write monologues, lyrics, plays, short films, and stories. all based on societal predicaments and real life stories. Mr. Freeman credits his experience and his subjects for his success throughout his career. He and his subjects have won numerous awards around the in multiple film festivals, including best documentary at the Swansae Film Festival in May 2010 as well as a few others. | Mister Nathan Ross Freeman, Screen and Play Write

Things such as line production, cast, hair and make-up must be managed by the director and assistant director. The film producer cares for things such as location and props for a given film. (here all props were provided by the cast and crew. Location: The Millennium Center) (photographed to the left: Mikela directing cast on the set of Jaleesa.)

In some cases writers, directors, and even some producers star in their films. For example, Mikela in Through The Window. (Above: Mikela standing in as an actor on the set of The Window.)

Independent Film Producer: Any one person or group of persons who manage create and direct films without major funding from an established production agency. (photographed to the left: Mikela acting as a mother on the set of The WIndow)

As an independent film company funds, support, and resources are extremely limited. Jobs are often distributed and funds are located by the producer himself. most films, dependent and independent, are initially paid for by investors Since dependent films are usually well-known usually have investors, finding resources can be exhausting. Like college students and home buyers, producers may apply for grants loans and other financial assistance.

As you may be able to see independent film companies are self-employed, meaning the cast usually consists of "off-set personnel" plus or minus a few volunteers. | Above: Jordan acting on the set of Jaleesa | To the right: Theater production to show the investors an example of where their money went.

To the left: Cast and crew on set for line revisions and roll call. Below: The Cast gathering to edit, or tweek, the script.

 Egos, Differences, and Creativity!

Work Conditions | Across: Mikela seeing her younger sister, Kennedi, off to school.

Conditions, hours, and accommodations are accessible. In following photographs you will see families at work together and employees being at home during usual business hours as well as not business hours.

In this photo, Mikela is wearing an outfit that will allow her to do work, move more effortlessly, and carry around objects such as cassette tapes and film. This outfit was even more ideal because MIkela was able to transfer roles from assistant director to actress in just a few seconds.

 Students and cast members quarrel.

Wardrobe seems to be the issue in this photograph. It is noted that in film clothing for utility important for the ability to maneuver. Mikela was unaware of this at this particular moment and refused to put on the proper tee shirt.

Because there is usually more than one director, or person in charge, artistic differences are not uncommon. In this photo Mikela and Mr. Nathan both would have liked the same with different lighting | To the left: Mikela threw an astronomical tempertantrum however in the end had to accommodate with her manager in order to keep her job. Below: Mikela in the middle of soundtrack rehearsal. In a tee shirt, scarf and jeans.

Ego is not an uncommon issue during production more often than not. Eventually the issue is resolved and the cast moves on to bigger and better things.

To the left and right: A group of cast members have a disagreement not strong enough to stop production, or even a hault the issue was resolved.

Smaller tasks and roles often go unnoticed such as choreographers, photographers, cinematographers, and cast directors, script advisors. | A young choreographer shows off his abilities for a potential addition to the show.
