For my love, Lucas. - Page Text Content

S: Sergeant Waldron, Lucas H.

BC: Dear Lucas, It's been a wonderful(ly hard) journey these past four years as you've stood by your commitment to serve and protect our country. As difficult as it was, this path you chose and we took on together has shown that we can weather the most powerful storms--that we are stronger than we even know. There have been times where we felt we couldn't be happier and others where we questioned if we made the right choice. At the end of it all, we always came together knowing that love may not solve all our problems, but that it would make us work through them. These past four years have been so challenging. I still break down and cry when I look back on it all; the pain, the anxiety, the feeling of helplessness and the unknown. And despite the agony, I’m still glad we went through this together because it has taught us to always have hope, patience and faith in one another. You've sacrificed so much for our country--from anniversaries, birthdays, holidays, and at times, your own life--to ensure our freedom. I thank you for all of that. You have always made me proud to be (and have been) a military wife. Although we have left that life behind us, I still look at you with amazement. That can never change. So with the utmost pride and respect, congratulations on completing your service. I hope you have learned and grown from your time with the Marine Corps. I know I certainly have. I love you. And I thank you. Faithfully yours, Your Wife

1: For my love. This memory book contains snapshots of your journey through the Marine Corps. Thank you for your service. I'm so proud of everything you've accomplished. | MY HERO Lucas H. Waldron

15: PFC Waldron, Lucas H.

23: Lcpl Waldron, Lucas H.

27: D-DAY 2010

28: My parting words to him are, "Please be safe." His response is a smile and, "I'll be home soon." This is our ritual... | Cpl Waldron, Lucas H.

30: Afghanistan | 2010

33: "Thank you so much for putting together packages for me and sending me letters to read. Perhaps you don't even know how much it means to me, but sometimes hearing from you is the only thing that keeps me going. I know it is hard, but never forget how much you mean to me. I love you with all my heart and soul, Laura. Just remember, every day--no matter how bad it is--is one day closer to being together again." -LHW

37: "All I want is to be in your arms again. To forget everyone and everything and just be US. I love you more than the meaning of the words itself. You are my heart." -LHW

38: "I would like to think that maybe it would be easier for you because you have your family and friends, but I know that isn't true. Loneliness is loneliness no matter how many people are around." -LHW | Distance has no correlation to love. Nothing can stand in between two people whose hearts are completely in love--not a continent, not a war.

40: "I spend a lot of time daydreaming about us. The house we might live in... The job I could get... Nothing too serious. I’m not trying to plan out the rest of our lives or anything. It just helps to pass the time. The fact is, I really don't care about any of those details. As long as we are together, the job/house/money is just a side note. I’ve already got the most important thing in my life. And that’s you.” -LHW

44: "When I'm feeling extra depressed--pretty much all the time lately--I just think about how far we've come. It's not long now! I can't wait to hold you in my arms again. Even if you can't see it, it's you that keeps me going." -LHW

48: It's true what they say. "Without darkness, we would see no light." The 7 months apart tested us mentally and emotionally—more than ever before. And in a few hours the moment we’ve been waiting for will finally be here. Nothing seems quite as scary or important as it did before. We've survived something not many can handle and no one would be crazy enough to ask for. I'm filled with love, pride and happiness.

50: Marine Corps Ball 2011

51: I am in awe of him. He works upwards of 50 hours a week. He puts up with endless troubles the Corps throws our way. He's ready and willing to leave home for more than six months because his country is asking him to. All of this, and here he is. Sleeping on his back, holding my hand under the covers. He's without a doubt, my hero. And to know that this seemingly invincible man is the love of my life puts me beyond words. | MY | Sgt. Waldron, Lucas H.
