FC: AARON and MEGAN | (plus a few)
of adoption | adoption [uh-dop-shuhn] v. 1. A great act of selfless love; 2. Creates families who span countries, colors, and cultures
Thank you for reading our book and getting to know our family. We are in awe of the strength and courage you possess to make an adoption plan for your child. Please know we are praying for your health and safety, as well as peace in your decision making process. Our family story really begins when we were in college. Our best friends introduced us and after dating for four years we were married in the fall of 2000. Since then we have been blessed with the honor of being parents to three beautiful, adopted children. Isabel is 12 years old and was born in Guatemala, Amelia 8 years old and was born in South Korea, and Louis is 4 years old and born in Kentucky. They are truly our most precious gifts and have brought such incredible joy to our lives! Aaron is the oldest of four children and has a close and connected family. He grew up playing every sport he could and was a piano performance major in college. He loves being a daddy more than anything in the world and is a patient, strong, loving, playful and involved father. Megan is also the oldest in her family and was blessed with a sister adopted from South Korea. She loves to garden, hike with our dog, tackle home improvement projects, and spend time with our family and friends. She is so thankful for the opportunity to stay home and spend her days reading to, playing with, and teaching our children (with just a little laundry and some dishes thrown in for good measure). Aside from our three precious kiddos, our family has been blessed by the miracle of adoption many times. The same friends who introduced us in college, still our best, adopted a baby domestically and she has blessed us in so many ways. Our other dear friends also adopted a baby domestically and gave us the honor of being his Godparents. Our kids are fortunate to have friends adopted from Vietnam, China, Africa, and all over the United States. | adoption made us parents for the first time (2006) | made two little girls sisters (2010) | We hope the pages of this book give you confidence and help you know who we are and how deeply we will love your child. We are counting the days until we get to meet you! With love, Aaron and Megan | and gave this dad a son (2014)
 THIS IS US
Yep- this is us. Long before we were married, when we would dream about our future family, Aaron knew it was going to include "a pile of kids" and I knew it was going to be built through adoption. We have walked some painful paths along the way, but adoption- with its wonders and miracles and heartbreaks- is our story. What used to be a book about how we met and fell in love, is now chock full of little people and their tears, trials, and triumphs; they are our redemption song. We know God wrote this plan before time began, and we know your love for your child saved us. Our family is a tribe with different stories that we honor and hold as sacred treasures. We also know love is in infinite supply, and we have more to give. | 2007 | 2011 | 2014

AARN | What Megan has to say: Aaron had me laughing within a minute of meeting him! His genuine and contagious smile puts everyone at ease, and his generous spirit is inspiring. He is always the first to extend an invitation and welcomes people into his home and heart. He is the ultimate team player and loves to help others achieve their goals. Although Aaron has worked hard and reached some impressive career goals, the role he was made for, and excels at beyond all others, is Daddy. He loves our kiddos more than anything and works diligently at being their Dad. He can shower them with hugs and kisses, teach them about God, and guide their character development with such compassion and strength. His patience and sense of humor add joy to our family, and his dedication to God and his work make us feel secure. Having him as my best friend is a gift I am thankful for everyday.

What Aaron has to say: I'd like to tell you all about my bride. Most of our friends would say they fell in love with Megan's laugh first, then her heart. I loved all of it from the start. Her zest for life, her strength of spirit, her tenderness of heart, and her fierce love and commitment to family swept me off my feet 22 years ago. It is so beautiful to watch her with our kiddos. Her commitment to them comes out in everything they do; reading, schoolwork, playing, spending time with family and friends, praying and caring for others, loving on their pets, cleaning up, and most importantly, being each others best friends. Makes sense, given Megan is my best friend. I still look forward to spending as much time with her as possible, because I know it makes me a better man.
 our FAMILY | meet
Isabel 12 years old Her favorite things are reading, knitting, crafts of all kinds, soccer, and singing. She is a natural at being the oldest and loves taking care of babies. | Amelia 8 years old This girl loves to be outside and can usually be found in the barn. She loves all animals, art, music, and is expert at playing with her little brother. | Louis 4 years old This little boy loves anything with wheels, playing with friends, being crazy, riding his bike, and is the best hugger in our family.
FAMILY | Aaron's | My family loves games and sports of all kinds. From basketball to chess, we'll play anything. We are loud laughers and communicators (often during games). We support each others' dreams and encourage each others' crazy adventures. In this family tears are shed together, stories enjoyed together, goals realized together, and generosity is on full display. What might top the list though is my family's love for little ones. Grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and great Grandma can't wait to meet their new family member!
Fun with cousins! | Family traditions | Hugs from Auntie | Grandma and Papa can't wait to meet their new grandchild! | First catch of the summer at the cabin! | Celebrating Christmas with siblings
FAMILY | Megan's | One of the things that I love best about my family is it was built through adoption. I was 7 years old when we welcomed my sister home from South Korea. Having a sister who was adopted changed how I view the world and taught me family is simply who you love. My parents have been married for over 40 years and are actively involved in our lives. From teaching piano and golf to the girls, to camping, to home improvement projects, to just getting together for Sunday dinner- we love spending time together. Nothing makes me happier than hearing, "Mimi and Papa are here!" when they walk in the door. The girls think my sister is the world's best Auntie and they love living near her. We are so thankful for the blessing of a growing family!
Me looking on as my mom holds my sister for the first time | Me, almost 30 years later, introducing Isabel to Amelia | My sister and Amelia! Both adopted from South Korea
home | our | HOME | outside | Our favorite place to play and learn | We built a litte barn! | We live just a few miles outside of a vibrant and diverse town in the Midwest, and get to experience the warmth of summer and snow-covered Christmases. We have known our neighbors for years and are surrounded by close friends and family. At home we love to garden, hike in the woods, cross country ski, swim, and share Sunday dinners with neighbors. We bought our home just six years ago, but Megan grew up down the road, so raising a family here (and a small menagerie of critters) is truly a dream come true!
COMMUNITY | Our best friends have been our greatest support throughout our adoptions- even traveling to Guatemala to meet our oldest child! They adopted their daughter in 2011. | Banner welcoming Louis home made by neighbors | We have many friends who were adopted | We are fortunate to live in an area and attend a church where there is a lot of diversity and many adoptive families. Our kids have other adopted friends in their schools, Sunday school, and classes, and fit right in wherever we go. Incorporating their heritage and culture into our family has blessed our extended family and friends. | We love to celebrate our cultures and traditions
Thank you for taking the time to get to know us. Without strong and courageous women like you, we wouldn't be a family. We know you have many decisions to make in the upcoming weeks and want you to know we promise to love your child unconditionally, and protect and provide for him or her always. We will continue to pray for you and tell your child about you throughout his or her life, and will forever be committed to fulfilling the hopes, dreams, and desires we know you have for your child. We pray you will find the path you know to be right and experience the peace and comfort only He can provide. We are honored to walk this road, no matter what comes, right at your side.
