2: The | Absolute Location | Formal Region | Central | Concepts | My house withholds two important things: an exact point on this earth; 33.102096,-96.751772 and my place of haven. | Bounded by the stones brick walls of Highlands of Russell Park, the people within are considered a part of Plano.
3: Functional Region | Space-Time Compression | Bounded by the stones of | All those who function with RaceTrac (getting gasoline) would be those who live near, around, or prefer it. | The time taken to interact with those who's place is far within reach is shortened by the transportation of a car.
4: Spatial Interactions | Expansion Diffusion | Relocation Diffusion | Human ideas and concepts are spread throughout the nation starting from ink and paper. | The delicacies of Asian cuisine moves to a new location to spread it's unique taste in a culture other than its own.
5: Township & Range | Arithmetic Density | People here, people there, people everywhere. In a mall, countless people walk by, and we find that a certain amount of people can fit in some area before becoming totally claustrophobic. | Split by the invisible, yet unforgettable boundaries, these apartment complexes have their own township and range squares to conform by.
6: Geographic Tools | Mental Map | Chloropleth | My perception of LIberty High School is based on the frequencies I take everyday. Places I know by heart are more detailed than those not known about. | Colored sections of the store show the categories of products that can be found easily.
7: Isoline Map | The wind patterns in the mid west are stronger than those in other regions of the USA. | The heaviest immigration is from Asia and Canada showing proximity (Canada) and better opportunities that appeal to Asians. | Flow-Line Map
8: Models | A majority of counties in the south and southwest have more of their population in poverty. | Non-Spatial Model | Urban Model | Without reference to space in Texas, this model shows the majority of the population's race as White people.
9: Spatial Model | Land in Texas is abundant but the differences in regions with large acre property to counties with smaller farms show the contrast of counties. | Gravity Model | To find the flow of transportation between two cities, a basic formula is used to solve the problem.
10: [Geographic Technology] | Global Positioning System | Infrared Satellite Imagery | Whenever lost and confused with frustration, the ingenuity of a GPS receiver on a phone has brought me to places I could never find easily. | This map signifies higher clouds in some areas while it also shows a relative warmer object in the north east and northwest corners of the US.
11: Day at the Beach | GIS | Aerial Photography | Viewing the world from a bird's eye view is as if I'm on top of the world. This photo shows the landscapes of California. | The layers of addresses, businesses, restaurants, and other buildings can be found with a touch of a finger. GIS is the technology that helps us find numerous places with an organized database.
