FC: Preparing for Our Bundle of Joy
To My Sweet Baby Morgan | Dear Morgan, When Daddy and I found out that we were going to have a baby, we were super excited! We couldn't wait to meet you! In the months that followed, we had many fun experiences as we prepared for your arrival. We did a lot of cleaning, organizing, and decorating around the house. Family and friends hosted baby showers. We gathered lots of baby gear, loads of fun books and toys, and piles of teeny tiny baby clothes. I took good care of myself to ensure that you were happy and healthy in my tummy. Daddy took very good care of me, too. I created this scrapbook so that we could always remember, and share with you, the fun and joyful anticipation that surrounded us during those months before you were born. On the morning of April 26, 2011, Daddy and I proudly welcomed you, our precious daughter, into the world. We are eager to watch you grow and learn. I love you very much, my sweet Baby Morgan! Love, Mommy

Baby Shower Time! Mommy's Family & Friends
Miss Aimee B's Tearoom has always been one of Mommy's favorite girly places for a delicious lunch. Mommy's bridal shower had been held here, too. This baby shower was hosted by Aunt Diane, Aunt Joyce, Cousin Jenn, and Grandma Barb, and was for Mommy's family and close friends. There were cute balloons and party favors (pink cellophane bags filled with a notepad of baby paper, a pink pen, and a tiny baby bottle filled with sweet baby-related candies; all tiied with a silver teddy bear bookmark). | Pam Zyk, Emily McGuire, Jenny Fletcher, Kim Gay, Gige Buss, Joyce Buss | Barb VanVooren, Lisa Jaegers, Ann Marie VanVooren (not pictured), Diane Newman, Jenn Krenn, Joyce Buss | They even had a cute sash and tiara for Mommy!
The shower was so much fun! We played a Baby Bingo game where you pulled the tabs hoping for 2 matching baby pictures. There was a tiny diaper game where the winner had a sticker inside that read "stinky diaper." There were so many wonderful gifts! Mommy received loads of cute clothes for you to wear, your stroller, your high chair, many of your cloth diapers, lots of diaper gear (diaper pail, diaper bag, wet-dry bags), and your baby bathtub.
Mommy enjoyed showing off your BumGenius 4.0 cotton diapers from Cotton Babies. The vivid colors included light pink (blossom), bright pink (zinnia), light yellow (butternut), bright green (grasshopper), pale green (sweet), light blue (twilight), bright orange (clementine), and light purple (bubble).
During the weekend of the baby shower, Mommy enjoyed lots of girl time with the family. Aunt Joyce came in town from Scottsdale, Arizona. Cousin Jenn visited from Chicago, Illinois. Aunt Diane drove in from West Lafayette, Indiana. Grandma Barb lives in St. Charles, Missouri, and Great Grandma Gige lives in St. Peters, Missouri. Because it is rare to get everyone together, we took lots of photos.

Two Baby Showers in One Day! Part 1: Mommy's Work | March 11, 2011 was a big day for baby showers! Mommy's co-workers at Clarkson Valley Early Childhood Center threw a baby shower at lunch. As these pictures show, there were lots of gifts and there was a lot of yummy food!
Mommy's friend, Miss Jill, made this beautiful quilt! The colors perfectly matched those of your bedroom. | Abby, the daughter of one of Mommy's co-workers, was a great assistant. Look at that tutu! | One of the amazing gifts: your bouncer | The diagnostic team who worked with Mommy: Jeff, Jill, Kelly, Mommy, Colleen, and Jenny
Right after work, Mommy headed next door to Crestview Middle School to meet up with Daddy. His fellow teachers threw us a baby shower, too! | Two Baby Showers in One Day! Part 2: Daddy's Work
A game involved guessing Daddy's predictions about which of your features would resemble Mommy or Daddy. We received lots of wonderful gifts at these two baby showers. Daddy's team of teachers gave us your activity jumper. We came home with balloons, clothes, blankets, personalized burp cloths, and toys. It was a fun afternoon!
Getting the House Ready | We worked hard to get our house ready for your arrival! A guest bedroom was transformed into your bedroom. We had the walls painted a soft shade of brown called "latte." We were excited when your crib and dresser were delivered! Daddy installed a shelf in your closet while Mommy sorted through all the baby clothes and found a home for all the new gifts. We rearranged furniture in the living room and our bedroom, Daddy mounted a new t.v. on the wall in the living room, and we organized all the closets and storage spaces throughout the house. | Before...
In our bedroom, we moved out a chest of drawers, brought in a brand new reclina-glider chair, and made space for the Pack 'n Play where you would sleep for the first 3 months. | We cleaned up the dining room and kitchen and loved looking at your swing next to the grandfather clock. | The family room had a nice open space where we could spread out blankets and play with you. While you were in Mommy's tummy, we had been teaching ourselves to play songs on the guitar. | The living room underwent a big transformation. We rearranged the furniture so that there was plenty of open space for you to play and learn to crawl and walk. We included your bouncer, play mat, and a basket of blankets. | After...
 Your New Bedroom
We were very happy with the way your bedroom turned out. It was so pretty! Mommy picked out crib sheets with pink and brown polka dots and stripes. Daddy found cute covers for the light switch and outlets. With nice furniture and lots of pink and brown decorations, all that was needed was you.
Baby Shower Fun with Daddy's Family | Grandma and Grandpa Witt hosted a baby shower at their house on March 20, 2011. They decorated their house with pink balloons. Aunt Laurie created a cute diaper cake. Because Mommy and Daddy kept your name a secret until you were born, the cake read "Baby Witt."
Aunt Laurie and her sister, Linda, tried to guess your name. | The guys (Uncle Brian, Daddy, Grandpa, Roger Koehn, and Uncle Jim) got in on the fun, too. | We enjoyed good food and good times with Uncle Jim, Roger and Maria Koehn, Grandpa, Olivia, Grandma, Cousin Natalie, and Aunt Sandy. | Cousin Rachel helped cut the cake.
The fun games included Baby Memory (turn over 2 numbers to find matching baby-themed words underneath), Find the Baby Powder (10 baggies of different types of white powder), Baby Play-Doh (without knowing who created them, Mommy chose her favorite Play-Doh baby), and Toilet Paper Baby Bump (everyone guessed how many toilet paper squares it took to reach around her tummy).
This quilt from Hawaii later became a favorite for you to lay on and do your kicks. | Look at this darling raincoat! | Daddy enjoyed opening gifts! | Everyone was so generous!
It's Almost Time! | During the last few weeks, Mommy prepared all of the new cloth diapers. They were washed, dried, and stuffed. They were arranged like a rainbow of sherbet colors in your dresser drawers.
We celebrated Easter at Grandma Barb's just 2 days before you were born. | A little more than a week before you were born, Mommy met Miss Emily for lunch. Baby Caitlyn would be born 3 months later. | This picture was taken on your due date: April 21. That day came and went. We just kept waiting for your arrival!
You were born on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 11:23 a.m. You weighed 7 pounds, 11 ounces and you were 21 3/4 inches long. You had a head full of dark brown hair and gorgeous deep blue eyes when you were born. Your skin was soft and your cheeks had a pretty rosy glow. You were so beautiful! | When we recevied the call saying that it was time for us to go to St. John's Hospital, we were so excited! Once we were settled in our room, we tried to pass the time by talking, imagining what you would look like, and e-mailing our family with updates.
Sweet Baby Morgan is Here! | We were so proud of you! Daddy took hundreds of pictures of you before we even left the hospital. These were some of our favorite pictures from your birthday.
Special Memories | First photos showed off your beautiful skin | Your precious newborn footprints | A baby will make love stronger, days shorter, nights longer, bankroll smaller, home happier, clothes shabbier, the past forgotten, and the future worth living for.
Grandma and Grandpa Witt arrived at the hospital soon after you were born. They were so proud of you! They enjoyed holding you and playing with you. | Grandma Barb was your first visitor at the hospital. She was so excited to hold you in her arms! She wanted to visit you all the time! She loved to hug you and read to you. She always enjoyed finding new, cute clothes for you to wear.
Going Home Day! | Baby Makes Three!
We brought you home from the hospital 2 days after you were born. So on Thursday, April 28, 2011, we buckled you into your car seat for the first time. You looked so small! | Everyone was very tired, including you. But we were so glad to have you home! We were excited to begin the adventure of being your Mommy and Daddy and officially becoming a family of three! | We quickly learned that you calmed yourself and slept best when you were swaddled.
