S: Hope V. Staten - Memory Book

FC: In Loving Memory of Hope V. Staten

1: Obituary On July 14, 2011 Hope V. Staten, 80, of Las Vegas, was called home by our Heavenly Father. She was born to Dora and Paul in the early fall of 1930 in Philadelphia, and spent her younger years in Catskill, N.Y. As a teenager, Hope moved to Los Angeles, where she graduated from Manuel Arts High School and continued to Los Angeles City College. She was a resident of Las Vegas for over 60 years, where she retired as an executive of the City of Las Vegas Housing Authority. Hope was admired by many for her grace and beauty and touched the lives of everyone she came in contact with. She liked to travel and was a people person who enjoyed the company of her family and friends. Hope exuded warmth, love, and joy. Hope is survived by her spouse Joseph Carter; daughter Sharon Jackson (Chris); granddaughters, Jasmine Cole and Brianna Perkins-Parscha; grandson, Christopher Jackson II; great-grandchildren, Dominic, Malaya and Tye; stepson Eugene Staten Jr.; stepdaughter, Shani Coleman; and a host of friends and family.

6: You can shed tears that she is gone or you can smile because she has lived. You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back or you can open your eyes and see all she has left. Your heart can be empty because you can't see her or you can be full of the love you shared. You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday. You can remember her and only that she's gone or you can cherish her memory and let it live on. You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back or you can do what she would want: smile, open your eyes love and go on. David Harkins
