FC: Grant Daniel Adams 2006-2008
Who's idea do you think this was? Grant age 5 1/2
Sports 2006 Your first year of baseball (t-ball) and your first year of soccer! Though you were successful at soccer, we don’t think it is a sport that will stick with you. However, with Dad as your baseball coach, it will surely be a favorite.
Hockey What more can we say than... LOVE. This is your first season on a team and you had a blast. You played forward and skated hard every time you were on the ice.
 Easter 2006
This Easter was full of egg hunts and family time. We went to Knollwood Country Club for their egg hunt and brunch. Grandma and Grandpa Adams had their big egg hunt for the grandkids too. We colored eggs at home and the Easter Bunny hid those for you to find Easter morning. You also got some cool model airplanes in your Easter basket..
A Visit to Cincinnati We always have fun when we visit Grandma and Grandpa Lumpkin and Aunt Christa's family. Madison got you to ride Twist but you hated the smell of the horse barn. We baked and decorated cookies with Grandma, played baseball with Grandpa and you had fun with your first experience of painting pottery pieces.
Denver '06 In June we traveled to Denver, Colorado to visit your Uncle Big (Brett) and his family. Aunt Christa and her family were there too along with Grandpa and G.G. We went to Six Flags Amusement Park and played with your cousins at Uncle Big's house in Broomfield. Together you all wrote a play, created the costumes and performed for us in their front yard.
 Summer 2006
As the photos show we had a lot of fun this summer! We went to Lake Michigan-Silver Beach. We also spent time at Grandma & Grandpa Adams' house on Lake Tippecanoe. One photo shows you and Lily searching for frogs at Fernwood Botanical Gardens. Then in August Grandma & Grandpa Lumpkin visited and we went to the St. Joseph County fair.
Ft. Wayne Zoo 2006 What a fun trip we took with the Schroeder's this summer. You had fun "riding" the Komodo Dragon sculpture and driving the safari jeep! You also got to see your all time favorite snake - the reticulated python. The exhibits were fun and the weather was perfect for animal watching.
This is your first year of "all day" school... KINDERGARTEN You had a fantastic teacher that was very patient with all you boys! You spent many recesses "on the curb"but we are sure you will mature into all this energy :) You studied dinosaurs and were very into making large paper sculptures...do you remember the alligator and the basement zoo? | In the photo below you and Lily are wearing clothes Dad brought home from one of his trips to China. You really liked this BMW race car team shirt. Soon after school started you learned to ride your bike without training wheels. Do you remember not stopping in the garage and "riding" down the first set of stairs to the basement!?!
On September 26th, 2006 you and Lily were dedicated to the Church. We began attending Granger Community Church (GCC) in the fall of 2005 and all 4 of us have enjoyed the services every week. This dedication was Dad and I declaring that we would raise our children with God as our anchor. | Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5&6
 Height = 47.75 inches Weight = 52 lbs
The BIG SIX!!! As the photos show you have many different interests during this birthday celebration. The balloons show you are into military "stuff" but I made you a LEGO cake and you received many different Legos as presents. During your birthday party with the family you and Michael Schroeder decided you needed costumes so he is a Power Ranger and you are Anakin Skywalker. Lastly, Aunt Christa sent you a Cincinnati Bengals uniform so football is now on your radar. What a great day!
Fall Fun | Making "brown cookies" with Grandma Lumpkin at her cabin in southern Indiana | Learning everything you need to know about fishing from Grandpa Lumpkin | We had a great visit with Grandma and Grandpa Lumpkin in October. You and Grandpa found a skink which you brought him home and named Carlos (from The Magic School Bus series), see the small picture above. Then we headed home to get ready for Halloween. We went to The Patch and carved our pumpkins. You were Peter from Narnia (Dad has read the series of books to you) and we did our usual trick or treating with the Schroeders'. Looks like all you kids had the same idea for costumes this year, great minds think alike!
Our Christmas Activities 1. Picking out our tree at Butler Tree Farm 2. Making the gingerbread house... (Dad HATES this and stays away at all costs) 3. Christmas at Grandma & Grandpa Lumpkins' house in Cincinnati with Aunt Christa's and Uncle Big's families 4. Celebrating at Grandma & Grandpa Adams' house 5. Heading to the Santa Brunch at Morris Park Country Club - you are acting like Napoleon Bonaparte (really, that is what you are doing!) | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5
Here are some photos from Christmas morning at home. You received a "talking" globe that Dad is using to show you of his travels, the rope magic trick was your favorite, a complete Notre Dame football uniform (with a true helmet) and a semi trailer full of wild animals! Another wonderful holiday.
In March 2007 we had a great visit with Grandpa and G.G. Long at their home in Florida.. We spent many hours swimming at the Ritz-Carlton pool and beach. | A trip to Mote Marine was awesome for the sea life and boat trip out in the bay. Also, we visited the Jungle Gardens where you got to hold an alligator!!!
 Easter 2007
We did many of our "usual" Easter activities...coloring eggs, Grandma Adams' egg hunt, and the Morris Park Bunny Brunch. This year was a little different because Dad was away on business. We made our own pots of tissue paper flowers, aren't they beautiful? Then you took it one step farther and made a paper garden of flowers and set it up in the basement window with a paper heat lamp and everything! Your creativity with paper is endless.
What a great season of baseball. You have moved up to Farm League and the games were exciting. It is a great group of boys and the best part was that Dad and Uncle Bob were your coaches. Your cousin Conrad was on the team and as usual so was Michael Schroeder. The photos on the other page were taken in early summer 2007. The one by our pond has such a beautiful background...not to mention the three wonderful people in the picture. The other photo was taken in our basement as you played a Grant and Lily favorite...Giant Squid with your dad. I think these two pages show just how much your Dad loves you and how dedicated he is to being there for you whenever you need him. | 2007
We took two local "getways"this summer as a family. This page shows our trip to the Kalamazoo Air Museum (you were really into WWII aircraft) afterwards we stopped at Silver Beach for some fun in Lake Michigan and we ended the day at Redamak's for some delicious burgers in New Buffalo. | The opposite page shows our trip to the Indianapolis Children's Museum and Zoo. We stayed overnight and had a wonderful two days of exploring! You and Lily really liked the dinosaur dig and mummy wrapping at the museum. The penguins were a hit at the zoo along with a roller coaster. | Summer 2007
A fly over at your first game | First Grade You did great with the math timed tests, the spelling tests and sight words. You are a conscientious student and a good friend. But the big news this fall is you attended your first ND football game. You loved every minute of it!
Irish Youth Hockey League - Mite Blue This year you tried a new position...goalie. We aren't sure yet but we think this might be your thing (just like your dad)! I showed Uncle Big that picture of you in the yellow jersey wearing all the hockey gear and he immediately dubbed you "The Human Eraser". | 2007
Happy 7th Birthday For your birthday dinner you chose TGIFriday's, you LOVE their burgers! You are still really into WWI and WWII aircraft like the Hellcat and so "airplanes" was the theme for your party. | We played "pin the pilot in the cockpit", you all made serious paper gliders and we had a distance contest with those and then everyone searched through the "clouds" to find their very own die cast metal airplane. You wanted an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen with a Reese's center. | Height = 51 inches Weight = 62 lbs
Halloween 2007 This year you went with the Star Wars theme and you were Boba Fett the Bounty Hunter.
Christmas 2007 These two pages show our "Christmas activities. Butler Tree Farm, making the gingerbread house and going to Grandma & Grandpa Adams' house to celebrate. | The photo to the left was for our Christmas card this year. You and Lily are always good sports when I ask to get this done. As these pages show, playing in the snow is always a great time for you and your sister. | This year you are really into football. Tom Brady of the New England Patriots is your favorite professional player so you were excited to get that uniform. You also got your first set of "football" guys"
Easter 2008 | Though our focus at this time of year is always on how much Jesus loves us we also enjoy the other activities like egg coloring, the hunts and the feasts with family! As the square photo shows your competitiveness has really blossomed since you are openly celebrating your win of the egg hunt against Lily...really?!?
East Side Little League - Farm League Another great season of machine pitch baseball. The players are still moving around positions in the field so you all can learn the game. You enjoy playing second base, pitcher and catcher the most. Many of the same boys are on the team from last year so you all are getting better together every game. Also, this was your first year to play on an "all star" team after the season. Dad and Coach Rafiniski put together a group of you boys and played under the name of Eastside Hitmen. You played in the Maurice Matthys tournament and even though the team didn't advance too far it was great fun to watch. The thing we will remember is that it always seemed you would get 2 strikes on your count and then put the ball in play!!! | 2008
avoiding the sun?!? | We stayed at the Grand Wailea along with all of Dad's family. We had some professional pictures taken to document the trip. You took a helicopter ride of the island with Dad and Lily which is where you found this beautiful rainbow! | Maui 2008 | We tried surfing on this visit and had a blast! Mark from Goofy Foot Surf School took us all out and taught us how to catch a wave. You and Lily did fantastic - Dad and I still need some work :)
helicopter ride | asleep while whale watching!
The competition between you and Ben Cooper has begun. When on the same team, you two feel unbeatable but when pitted against one another the desire to dominate erupts in you both! Olympic Day is the perfect stage for you two to perform - there will be a clear winner in each race and you both will know where you stand | SCS Olympic Day - 1st Grade
During the summer of '08 you spent 4 days down in southern Indiana with Lily and Grandma & Grandpa Lumpkin...Cabin Camp! No Mom or Dad, just fun. In addition to puzzles, fishing and playing in the pond they took you to Orville Wrights birth place and an air show in Hagerstown. | Conquering your fear of heights
Second Grade | Another great start to the school year. You are working hard in school and having fun too. You made it to 3 Notre Dame football games. We took Michael Schroeder to two of them and your cousin Conrad came to the other one. Michael's mom and I took you boys to the coldest game ever. There was snow piled up where our feet were to be. We also took a ride down to Cincinnati with Grandpa and G.G. Long on a private jet they rented. Then Grandma and Grandpa Lumpkin came for a visit near Thanksgiving.
Irish Rovers | Travel hockey has begun! You tried out for the team and made it. It was an exciting season and you are thoroughly enjoying the goalie position. We are so proud of your effort and dedication and we LOVE watching you play. The highlight for you was getting a shutout against Indy AllStars. | Travel Hockey
Inspired by the recent Summer Olympics you wanted an "Olympic" Party. You can see we had fun with the invitaions and then took it from there. Each of you made your own "country's" flag then we moved on to the competitions. We filled the afternoon with flag football, water races, volleyball, obstacle course and street hockey. As the photo below shows, I set the ice cream cake out a bit too early...luckily it still tasted yummy! What a great group of boys to help you celebrate your 8th birthday. Your gifts were focused around sports...baseball and football jerseys, helmets and books. | Height: 54.5 inches Weight: 67 lbs | G$ Turns 8!
Happy Halloween Happy Halloween Happy Halloween Happy Halloween | This year you decided to be a baseball player, Jon Lester from the Boston Red Sox. You are a loyal fan of the BoSox and you want to be a pitcher so it only makes sense that this would be your alter ego for the night. You even had Dad carve the Red Sox logo in your pumpkin this year! | with micheal and conrad
Christmas 2008 | Another wonderful season celebrating our Savior's birth! Your big gift was the Wii video game. We had fun baking cookies, playing in the snow, building an awesome snowman and Dad's favorite...the gingerbread house (NOT!). We also had a great visit down in Cincinnati. | trying out the snowshoes from Grandpa & G.G. | Christmas program at church
with cousins Madison and Taylor | St. Pat's park | Butler Tree Farm
Carson Meiser, Michael Schroeder, Sam Thomas, John Butler, Grant, Nick Harman, Mitchell Floran, Ben Cooper | Tigers Flag Football '08-'09 | What a fun time we have all had with this team. You boys love to play football at recess and this league allows you to play a more organized form and release some of your comptetitive juices in a positive way :) John Meiser and (big) John Butler were your coaches and by season's end the team was pretty darn good! You were a force to be reckoned with on both offense and defense. Your biggest play was against the Red Raiders: a goal line, game ending tackle that not only gave your team the win but it also preserved the Tiger's 1st place finish in the league.
