FC: The Greek Gods Visit Station 24 | By: Chris Peto
So, basically I was enjoying a Saturday afternoon over at Pasco Fire Station 24. We had just finished a delicious lunch that the Captain made for us and were sitting out on the bumper of the Rescue (Ambulance) talking about average stuff. Suddenly, a call comes in over the loud speaker for a residential structure fire. The Captain, his Engineer and a probie jump on the engine and head off.
Since anybody under 16 cant ride the engine to a structure fire, I’m left behind. Two of the younger guys off the Rescue and I stand in the back patio looking at the sky. I see some odd looking objects flying about the sky to the east of us. Then, Dennis, the driver off the Rescue sees them to. “It’s probably superman.” He tells me. Then this “Superman” turns into around ten smaller objects, and the worst part is that they’re heading straight at us. I run inside and tell the driver that this is probably something out of the ordinary. He still isn’t concerned so I go stand in the garage and listen to the scanner. Then I see some figures in the vacant lot across the street and I see that they are being leaded by some guy that has a huge beard. I try not to make it obvious that I am looking at them but it truly is one odd sight. They walk into the station. I go get Dennis and we greet them at the door. They seem to be friendly so we invite them in for a tour of the station. We first stop by the dispatcher’s office and Zeus looks at all the computers as if we are on Mars. I recognize Hera, Cupid, and Athena standing behind Zeus along with a little over half a dozen other gods.
We invite them to eat the rest of our lunch and they gladly accept. They introduce themselves to me and Dennis and I learn quite a bit about them. Zeus tells us that he has had children out of his head and legs. We find out that Zeus is the god of gods and the god of men, so we better treat him real well. Hera introduces herself and tells us that she is the queen of three powerful things: Gods, Childbirth, and Marriage. So, we make sure to treat her real nice. We then meet Cupid, and we could tell that he is the god of love because of his bow & arrow. As the dinner goes on, we find out that Athena is really good at math and that Dionysus likes to get folks drunk because he is the god of wine.Hermes explains to us that he is the god of thieves and we are not surprised because he has gold chains around his neck. Hephaestus told us that he is the god of fire, so it’s a good thing that he doesn’t know what firefighters do or else we’d be dead. We continue to munch on the delicious barbeque chicken when we hear the engine pull in. The Captain doesn’t like visitors, so we told the gods to hide. But instead, Poseidon decides to greet Captain Wolfe at the door and the Captain begs Poseidon not to hurt him.
Good thing Poseidon didn’t start an earthquake! Hades decides to go sit in the corner of the kitchen as he is uninterested with what is going on. I look over and see him sitting there in a dark underworld mess. Ares decides to end the dinner by telling us that he is the god of war and then cuts a fart. And everybody walks out the door. The End
