S: Guatemala Mission Trip 2011

BC: It was a trip we will never forget...

FC: Guatemala Mission Trip 2011

Our group of fifteen students and two faculty members arrived in Guatemala City early on July 30th 2011. | The journey was only partly over as we still had a four hour bus ride to La Reforma!

Once we finally arrived in La Reforma, we were so exhausted, we all just passed out! Space was limited...we all became very close, very quick! | We were so smart, we turned a two person bed into a four person bed!

The coffee and rubber farm where we were staying was so beautiful...

The next morning we began setting up our clinic....

We transformed this pavilion... | Into a working dental clinic!

Once the clinic was all set up, we just had to wait for our patients to show up!

Our patients came from a school just a few minutes away...

Once the patients started coming in...they didn't stop for 4 days straight!

The work was tough...lots of long hours and difficult cases...

The work seemed like it would never end...

But we made sure to take a break whenever we could... | ...and we always kept smiles on our faces!

One night, we had an emergency call from a patient who couldn't get to the clinic...so we went to her house instead!

After work, we all needed something to relax... | MEMORIES

On our last day at La Reforma, the owner of the coffee farm gave us all hand made bags filled with coffee! | There were a few sad faces to see us go...

Next, we went to Antigua for a few days where we saw some beautiful scenery...

And of course, enjoyed just relaxing, shopping and spending time together!

After an exhausting week, it was finally time to go home... | But the memories we made on this trip will be with us always!

Special thanks to Dr. Reina and her family for making this trip possible!
