S: The Jensema Family Trip to Maui, Hawaii 2012
FC: Hawaii 2012
February 20th-28th 2012 | Early on a Monday morning we left Grammy and Grampy's house and headed to Seatac to take our first flight as a family to Maui, Hawaii. Can you see who is missing from the family picture? Not everyone felt like cooperating for this shot.
Our flight was just beginning to board, can you see that Daddy was getting a bit nervous?
We brought lots of things to do to stay busy for the 5 1/2 hour flight, amazingly, it went well!
The beach was an immediate hit with the kids, everyone enjoyed the sand and water...until Kaden was knocked over by a wave, then he preferred the beach from that point on.
After being knocked over by the wave, Kaden was only willing to go to the water's edge to fill up his watering can! | Getting to the beach each day was an accomplishment, Papa was very skilled at being able to carry 8 people's gear all by himself! Left: Papa was also very skilled at getting the umbrella in the sand just right!
In an attempt to wear Kaden out, Papa took Kaden for a walk on the beach. Lauren enjoyed riding the waves with Dad, and playing in the sand never seemed to get old.
The Aquarium proved to be a great break from the sun. We all really enjoyed an up-close view of the sea life that we did not see in the ocean we had been playing in for the past several days.
It was no great surprise that Lauren made a friend nearly everywhere we went. This little girl's name was Eden and she was from Canada. While she was socializing, the boys enjoyed playing catch on the beach. Momma's favorite picture of the trip is here on the right. And Kellen? Well Kellen did great napping on the beach or watching the action!
Whale Watching Tour with the Pacific Whale Foundation of which Mom and Dad are proud Members!
Wish we could say we were the artists behind this amazing whale sand sculpture. Whales were everywhere during our stay, it was so fun to watch them breaching and spouting in the water. As hoped we saw many whales close up on the Tour.
The pool was another favorite activity. Thankfully we were able to have fun and abide by the strict rules! No Marco Polo!!
Lauren accomplished a huge goal of learning how to swim! Her friend Quinn was a huge encourager and provided lots of helpful tips. She was also from Canada and is on a swim team there!
Dinner on the roof was a huge treat. Everyone seemed to enjoy going up there and looking down below, sometimes we could even spot the turtles that swim right in front of the Condo!
Despite how tired he was, the only nap this boy took the whole vacation was for 30 min. on the flight home!
Our last Sunset walk on the beach was a sad one. The whole trip was like a dream vacation for our family. The kids so enjoyed the beach; and the warm weather, sun, and vitamin D was just the medicine our soggy Northwest souls needed! Thank you Mom and Dad for the wonderful memories and the great opportunity you gifted us!!! We will never forget it!
