1: This book is dedicated first and foremost to Idonea and William Hersee, as well as their daughter Sandra, her husband Dennis, and their son Mark Olson. We would also like to thank those who served on the Hersee House Renovation Committee: Bob Long, Steve Martineau, Sandy and Dennis Olson, Steve Pung, Laura Richards, Amanda Schafer, and Judy Smith. The renovation process was smooth, in large part, because of the pro bono assistance of Darrell Herbruck and Allison Chiodini of Lodgco Management (architects), and Deb Gascho of Design Origin (interior design). Joe Fleming and Craig Bosley of Konwinski Construction were a pleasure to work with and always had our best interests in mind. This project would not have become reality without the financial assistance of the following community members: Dennis and Sandra Olson; Oil and Gas Explorers of Isabella County – Timmus Energy Partners, Summit Petroleum Corporation, Strickler Resources, Coil Drilling Technologies, Hersee Corporation, Lease Management, Maness Petroleum Corporation, Muskegon Development Company, Smith Energy, Wood Oil, and Hal Banks; Jack Harkins, Isabella Bank, Mercantile Bank, The Morey Foundation, Dennis and Mark Olson, Bandit Industries, Bill and Janet Maar Strickler, Mike and Dianne Morey, Janet Maar Strickler, Steve and Deb Martineau, W. Sidney and Judith French Smith, and The Leonard Plachtas. | Dedication

3: Idonea “Dony” Hersee, 99, passed away on September 14, 2009. She and her husband, William E. Hersee, M. D., spent most of their adult lives in Mt. Pleasant, where they were a strong presence in the community. | Dony was an active supporter of the Veterans Memorial Library, the American Red Cross and the Mt. Pleasant Area Community Foundation. Before her death, Dony chose to leave her legacy by generously donating her home to the Community Foundation. The Hersees built the house at 306 S. University in the 1930s and constructed additions on several occasions to accommodate Dr. Hersee’s adjoining medical practice. In 2010, the Hersee House was renovated to function as an office while retaining the welcoming feel of a home. It is now the permanent home of the Mt. Pleasant Area Community Foundation.
