I have been a lawyer for many years, but the most important case of my life came to me recently. It tested all aspects of my life including the strength of my children to face the ridicule of the town.

When I heard the verdict of the Tom Robinson case I got up and left. I knew that the verdict would be guilty, but I couldn't help blaming my city for putting a innocent man in jail.
One night I was having a conversation with my brother and I noticed that Scout was listening in, so I said some things that I knew she needed to hear. .
Scout and I read the paper together whenever we can. Her teacher seemed upset when she learned that Scout could read, but I think it is important for her to keep reading.
My eyes do not work as well as they once did, so I have to wear glasses when I read. This prevents me from doing activities with my children such as playing football with Jem.
