FC: The iPhone Journey | By: Fahad AlRajhi

Premise Going back in time has always been a fascination of scientists. People often dreamed of reliving the events they read in history. This is a very extraordinary one about a boy named Ali who went back about about one hundred years when his country was nothing more than desert. The only thing that distinguished one are from another was the color of the sand. Yet, in the journey Ali took him iPhone with him. He remembers waking up one morning in the house of his great great grandfather. Everything was new to him except the iPhone he saw next to him. The journey showed Ali how people used to live in the past and how infrastructure is important to modern technology

Ali woke up one fall morning in his grandfather’s house. He did not recognize his grandfather but his grandfather recognized him. His grandfather told him that he saw dream which a soothsayer interpreted as the arrival of Ali in the month of September. After an awkward breakfast during which Ali started loosening up and getting comfortable with his ancestors, Grandfather Khaled told Ali it was time to go to school. Ali was shocked to know that he had to go to school and, as he did back in his house, he tried to play sick. Grandfather Khaled did not believe Ali’s bluff and told him to get ready.

Hassan immediately asked about what was Ali playing with. Ali told him an iPhone. To Ali’s surprise, Hassan neither knew what an iphone was nor what a phone was either. Nevertheless, Hassan liked playing with the iphone. | Soon the there was a knock on the door it was the neighbor’s kid Hassan. Hassan was to walk with Ali to school. Walking was another concept that Ali was excited about. During the walk Ali, took out his iPhone to play with as he does each morning.

At school, Ali was the talk of the day, actually not Ali but his iPhone. Everyone wanted to get their hands on it. Ali was so excited to show them his Facebook contacts and Twitter tweets, but noticed that he had no reception.

He kept moving from one are of the school to another in hopes of catching a signal but with no luck. The day passed in a flash. Everyone wanted to know Ali because of his iPhone. On the way back, Hussan suggested to Ali to go to his father's shop. Maybe he can fix his phone and get him reception. Hassan’s father told him that he had never seen such a thing and was not able to help. Soon Ali returned to his grandfather's home but Ali was now sad. He could not get any reception for his phone and was also beginning to miss his mother. His grandfather's family tried to cheer him up but with no luck. Soon Ali noticed the low battery sign in his phone. The phone then suddenly went off. Knowing that he lost his only method of communicating with his parents, Ali fell unconscious.

He woke up to the sound of his father and mother saying to him to calm down. Ali then woke up, it was a dream! He was now in his house in his bed. It was all a dream. Ali told his father and mother what happened in the dream after which his father explained that the reason why the phone did not work was because they did not have an infrastructure back then. Ali then asked what was infrastructure. His father went on to explain to him what it was and they day went on like any other day.
