FC: The Big Race By: Isaiah Hernandez

The two racers started their engines and slowly drove to the starting line. Harold was ready and was with tons of confidence. While Stan was nervous, but determined to win.

"You're gonna lose!" Said Harold. Stanley sat in silence because he knew he needed to walk the walk and not talk the talk. The only way to win this race was to focus and believe he could win this.

"Go!" Both racers step on the gas and take off down the street to officially begin the race. Harold was fast but not smart. Stanley was slow but smart.

After awhile into the race Harold had a huge lead and showed no signs of giving it up. Stanley thought about how he could win this race. He then remembered a short cut. Although Stanley wasn't a good driver he knew the course better than anyone. Constant practice on this course helped him. Stanley prepared for this race for a long time.

With the huge lead on Harold's side he knew he would win. But as his lead got bigger his pride got bigger and bigger. Now not even seeing the sight of Stanley he then decided to slow it down and take his time. He had no idea what Stanley was planning but Stanley still had a long way to go before he could even catch up with Harold. WIthout giving all he had for the rest of the race there was no way he was gonna win.

Stanley raced through the course. He knew he was far behind and the short cut would do little help he believed he could win. Although far behind he still took his time because he knew he needed to work at his own pace. Working at Harold's pace or anyone else's would result in a loss. All he had was faith and the determination to win the race.

It came time for the gas stop and to refuel your car. "I don't need gas I can beat Stanley without any help." And drove on by with the finish line in sight. Stanley cam upon the gas station and knowing he was far behind he still thought it would be smart to put gas just in case. He quickly refueled his engine and turned his engine on. He then saw Harold's car and knew he wasn't far from winning.

He sped off as fast as he could with hopes of winning. That's when Harold started slowing down. "What's wrong with my car he said?" He said and realized his car ran out of fuel. Angry and shocked he watched Stan speed right passed him crossing the finish line first. Stanley was so excited and shocked that he actually pulled off a win. Harold ran off in disappointment. "He'll learn his lesson and next time he'll be humble." Stanley said.

Stanley went home that day with his head held high as ever. He'd always dream about this moment but never would've thought it would come to reality. Hard work and knowledge played a huge role. Although he knew he could never beat Harold again, it was fun to change that for once to finally beat him and someday he would hopefully learn his lesson.

Harold learned his lesson that day. He thought he had it easy in the race just because Stan was racing him. He went home that day with his head hanging and pride shattered. Never in his entire lifetime would he have thought that Stanley would ever beat him in the race. "Anything is possible." He said to himself. He then thought of winning the gold and started dreaming about the next race. "I'm not gonna lose again!" He said.
