FC: Japan scenes 1975
1: Japan scenes 1975 A Photo Album by Eddie Wong
2: After a month-long stay in Hong Kong in August 1975, I went to Tokyo for two-weeks. I stayed with Soichiro and Celeste, who were friends of my sister Donna. They lived in a tiny apartment in Tokyo, and I spent my days wandering the streets, amazed at the crowds of well-behaved people. The trains ran on time and the streets were immaculate. Days of stifling humidity were punctuated with occasional rain showers.
3: I must have been an odd sight, standing on top of a mailbox to get this overhead view. In the top right hand corner of the photo you can see the alley extend far into the distance. Tiny shops and restaurants are jammed nest to each other. Human and vehicular traffic flows like swiftly flowing water. People avoid eye contact with one another.
12: A Visit to Nikko | One weekend, Soichiro invited me to attend a reunion of his veterinary school classmates at a ryokan in Nikko. We left the concrete, glass and steel of Tokyo and after a two-hour train ride emerged in mountains amid strawberry fields and lush green fields. Long evenings of eating and drinking were punctuated with day-time hikes of three to four hours, picnics and then more hiking. It was exhausting and unforgettable.
