1: Background: Jim thorpe was born on May 28,1887 in Prague, Oklahoma. He was born a Potawatomi Indian. His Indian name, Wa-Tho-Huk, translated to "Bright Path". Jim grew up to be 6'1" and a 190 pound star athlete. He played football, baseball, and also track and field.
2: Accomplishments: - College Football Hall of Fame in 1951 - Charter Enshrinee in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1963 - All-American in 1911 and 1912 - Olympic Decathion and Pentathion Champion in 1912 - Associated Press Most Outstanding Athlete of the first half of the 20th century - "America's Greatest Football Player of the century" in 2001 - ABC's Wide World of Sports Athlete of the Century in 2001 - Track and Field Hall of Fame - First President of the Nation Football League - He was married three times and had eight children. - Now has a college football award named after him.

7: Jim Thorpe was considered "the greatest athlete of the 1920s" He became known for being the best in every sport he played, which was football, track and field, and baseball. Jim Thorpe played on many football and baseball team around the country. These teams would include the Chicago Cardinals for football and the New York Giants for baseball.
