FC: Demeter

1: Demeter English 9 Mrs.Corbett Katelyn Williams 12/06/10

2: Her struggle to save her daughter, from the underworld led to the making of the seasons.This was because when her daughter was allowed to join her mother,this Deites influence encouraged the crops to grow and spring was created. When her daughter returned from hades Demeter fell into a deep depression. the plants stopped growing and winter returned. She not only represented the fertility of the land but as a mother goddess she was worshiped by woman hoping to have children.

3: -She is the goddess of fertility and Harvest!!!

4: -She taught mankind about agriculture. -She created winter and a mystery religious cult. -She is accompanied by her daughter Persephone.

5: -Her roman name is Ceres. -She played a very important role in the ancient Greek society. -She was worshiped with many festivals and other honors. -She was thought to be a scholar.

6: -She was the Sister of Zeus!!

7: She eventually gave birth to a son for her human lover! Most people thought of her as the most human goddess out of them all. She was known as the source of all growth and life.She provided all of the nutrients plants needed to be able to grow.

8: This is a old stamp of Demeter. | -She dates back up until the Olympian times. -Her daughter was carried off by Hades the god of the under world.

9: Her images usually include a crown and a torch! | Her and her daughter Persephone were known to be called the Law and Mortality.
