What a surprise it was to hear we would be having a baby today. Kyden's due date was March 17, 2006. On February 6 we had our monthly visit to the Dr. of course we thought everything would be just fine. When the Dr. came in the room he said I needed to go straight home and put my feet up. My blood pressure was really high and wanted me back in the morning to see what it was doing. Never in a million years did I think anything would come of this. The morning of February 7th I headed up to the Dr. Grandma LoriAnn and Grandma Lois came along, we was going to make a day of this or so we thought. Little did we know what he was going to tell us. When the Dr. came in the room he said my blood pressure was way too high and we needed to head to the hospital and have the baby. Once he left the room I had a break down and just cried. I knew I wasn't ready and neither was this little baby inside me. Once I got it together over to the hospital we went, of course we called all of our families and told them. This was around noon, once they got me in a room they started me on pitocin and then the waiting game began. Finally 8:30 came and there was no change and they needed to get the baby out so C-Section is what we had to do. Little Kyden came into this world at 9:21. This was the scariest and happiest moments of our lives. | Daddy getting ready to go into surgery. | There was no metal allowed during the surgery so earing's had to come out. | We had all of our family there to support us and help us through this. | What amazing family we have! They stayed with us the entire time and we couldn't have done it without them.
Cute as a Button! | When Kyden was born he had trouble breathing and eating on his own. Also his lungs weren't developed. | Welcome to this world Kyden Chase
Joy | Holding him for the first time... | This was the first time the grandparents got to hold him as well.
Very Long | This was a very up and down experience for our family. | The night before when we left he was doing so good. When we walked in the next morning he had gone down hill and they had to put the IV back in and it was in his little head.
2 1/2 Weeks | Of course we had to deal with Jaundice on top of it all. | What a blessing it is to have this little guy with us!
Cherished | We loved every chance we got to hold him. | They would only let us hold him when it was feeding time. He ate every 3 hours, 12, 3, 6, and 9. It was really hard when he was done eating knowing we had to put him down. | Eating like a champ!! One of his problems was eating. He would forget to suck, swallow and breath at the same time.
Moments | After having a C-Section you aren't allowed to drive. There was no way this little guy was going to be left up there all day alone. Sweet grandma Lois thought the same thing. Every morning she would drive out to Plain City from Clinton pick me up and take me to the hospital. His feeding was at 9 so she always had me up there by 9 so I could feed him. She will never know how much that meant to me. | Every day there was and hour that we couldn't be back in the NICU. It was when the nurses had shift change. They would have to tell the other nurses what was going on with the babies and due to privacy reasons you had to leave. This was our rest time. I think grams was a little tired.
Finally home!! | When we finally got to bring him home he was 5 lbs. | He still had to come home on oxygen and a heart monitor. That made for a lot of sleepless nights. As long as he was home we didn't care. | I had a really hard time getting in and out of bed so my sweet husband set up a daybed for me in the living room. It made it a lot better for me and with all the wires and machines on Kyden it really helped a lot. Chase even slept on the couch so I wasn't alone.
Finally home but we still had a yellow baby. | After we got him home we still had to go up to the hospital every other day to have his blood tested. Then we was in his Pediatricians office at least twice a week so he could look at him. Lugging around all his machines got old really fast. | When we brought him home he was sleeping through the night. It was so nice. The doctors didn't think that was a good idea though. They told me to wake him up every three hours to eat. Wake a sleeping baby, I DON'T THINK SO!
...first Bath at home... | For the most part he loved his bath.
Once he got settled in and knew he wasn't falling he would fall asleep. | I'm sure it was nice to have an actual bath and not a cold sponge bath.
Growing too fast... | He loved to be wrapped up like a burrito. | My little chunky monkey. You never would have known he was 6 weeks early. | Taz loved sleeping by him
1, 2, and 3 months come and gone. | Taz thinks he is one of the kids. | This was one of the hardest days. I had to go back to work, Of course grandma offered to take him. At least I knew he was in good hands.
Such a happy boy | He was always so content no matter what he was doing. | He loved anytime with daddy. Of course daddy loved it just as much if not more.
What a bald little man he was. | First time in his bouncer. Once he got used to it he really liked it. | It did take a little while for him to gain weight. Once he started to you could tell he wasn't starved.
Blessing day | Getting the food ready.
June 2006 | We had so much support from our families.
Summer time | Kyden with Uncle Cade | Kyden and Ashlyn
Summer time | chillin... | Kyden and Kort... cousins | Big beautiful blue eyes
July | Kyden riding Taz | reading Cabelas books with dad
Hot~Hot~Hot | Waiting for the parade to start
Trying to | Got the position down now we just need to learn how to move. | time for a break. Its hard work learning how to crawl.
crawl | Mom gave in and helped him out.. | Even though we couldn't figure it out he is still all smiles as usual.
Pictures | Eating a pickle for the first time. Nothing really seemed to bother him.He actually liked sour things. He wanted to keep sucking all the juice out of the pickle.
Hooper Tomato Days | We got this crazy idea to put kyden in the baby contest for Hooper Tomato days. There were so many people there and we thought there was no way he could win. They had one person take the kids up on the stage and oh man he was a show off. When the judges came around he was jumping and smiling, he was trying to win them over for sure. When they started calling out all the awards and he got nothing it was a little disappointing. Finally they were crowing the prince and they called his name. We were shocked but we shouldn't have been. After all he was the cutest baby there.
September 4, 2006 | We have the best family. We had so many people come out to support us.
Little mans first | We had an old wood coffee table in our house. Like any other baby Kyden loved to play around it. We thought we were being so careful watching him but I guess things happen so fast. Next thing we know he was down screaming. He was standing up on it and fell. He hit his little face on the corner of the table. we are so lucky that it didn't get his eye. After that happened we got rid of the table, we didn't want to chance that happening again. Poor little man.
