 Table of Contents Sometimes I am... 2 My Mother's Kitchen 4 Where I'm From 6 GSMST 8

Sometimes I act smart, sometimes I don’t Sometimes I study hard, sometimes I won’t I go to a smart school, and get good grades Play Xbox and don’t go to football practice on week days Doesn’t mean that I’m not funny or have no friends Or play Word of Warcraft on the weekends. Brains and a life can go hand in hand

I have a voice, I’ll make a stand I’m called a nerd, I’m called a geek Yet I practice sports three days a week You laugh at us now and think we’re slobs Wait thirty years and see who has the best job So laugh while you can, if you dare The smart kids are the ones that become billionaires.

Now when you think of a kitchen You think of something way different than me. In my mom’s Italian kitchen Everything must be done in the order like one, two, three In her kitchen Everything is made from scratch In her kitchen Frozen dinners are considered trash In her kitchen Mint goes with every plate In kitchen You better not complain In her kitchen Road kill is a delicacy In her kitchen The one who cleans up is usually me

I am from duck tape and the million ways to use it, from 3M and the shiny space blanket. I am from brick walls that a hard working father provides. I am from the maple and Italian cypress; bending in the breeze as though they were alive. I am from home-made pasta and playing risk for a day or two. From my great, great grams Shaffer and maybe even Presley too. From parents who fall asleep before the movie ends, And looking up the chimney to find a nest of baby wrens. From looking both ways before crossing the street, And saying prayers with my dad before falling asleep. I am from the lion and lamb guarding my doorstep, Telling all we are caring, listening, and joyful people who are always ready to help

I am from Italy with their meat balls and fresh food from the water. From when my sister arrived from Korea, my aunts wedding in Brazil, and the time our cat bit my finger when I was just a toddler. I am from the pictures in the closet and by my bed. And pictures of people only alive in my head. They all prospered and made some mistakes. I pray that I see them inside heaven’s gold gates. My only request that I ask of them now, Is that I learn from their blunders and make them all proud.

Here I am at GSMST. Intuitive, Bright, and dedicated is me. I work hard to build my ever growing knowledge. So I can do well on the SAT and go to a good college. Some say its a nerd school, but who really cares. We come in first place at national Science Fairs. You laugh at us now but who really cares. You will be buying my corporations stock shares. So we don't have sports, and we don't have homecoming, Try playing me at soccer, or maybe even running. You will be the one that your football team is shunning.
