BC: “No one in the world loved my family like I did" - Armand

FC: Armand & Lillian Williams

Armand and Lillian Williams were married on September 15, 1948. Armand’s brother, Bob was a key figure in the process – he “smuggled” in Lillian's engagement ring! | When Memere first came to the United States she was known as Lili Anne Dorothea Arsenault. Her first name was somehow changed in the immigration process to “Lillian”. | Pepere and his brother Bob and brother-in-law Cam

Early memories include playing with pretend cigarettes! | Pepere said the boys never fought...

Armand describes Christmas as the most important thing in his life because it gave him and Lillian an all year focus on making treasures for his children and grandchildren. Ken dressed as Santa Claus, and paper mache and ceramic renditions of Santa were constructed by Memere and Pepere from scratch – little bits of paper were cut for weeks in preparation, and all the significant touches like beards and hats were lovingly created for their family. When Ken, Don and Bob were growing up they each received figurines, carved by Armand and with stockings knit by Lillian. Their grandsons were lucky enough to get model train engines as big as a bed each year! Dollhouses and furniture – with individually constructed shingles and furniture and crocheted/knitted miniature rugs, afghans and baby cradles were constructed for each of their granddaughters. There was always something incredible to look forward to each Christmas morning!

"We believed so much in Christmas!" - Armand

 50th Anniversary Celebration!

Each Easter Memere and Pepere produced beautiful ceramic hand painted Easter eggs!

Pepere’s wonderful 90th birthday celebration took place at Val’s in Holden.

Pepere owned a condo in Canada in Summit, New Brunswick where he enjoyed hunting and fishing at least once yearly. Of course it was all about his children, who he used to carry on his back into the woods. Whale watching, gardening and first and foremost toy creation were other areas of focus for him and Memere as well.
