 27 weeks | 35 weeks | 19 weeks. February 26th. Found out your a GIRL!!!!
20 weeks | 33 weeks | 37 weeks | July 11th, 39 weeks. Ready to meet you! | We found out we were pregnant on November 10th. Quite unexpected but we were thrilled. You were quite the globe trotter while in-tero, going to Mexico twice and Florida. Mom loved being pregnant & feeling you move in her belly all the time. Daddy got to feel you move the first time at 20 weeks. You get the hiccups several times a day (something that continued after you were born too). You were measuring small the whole pregnancy but around 36 weeks, teh amniotic fluid levels were getting low so mom was put on bedrest
Meeting Makena... You were more beautiful than we could have ever imagined.
We named you Makena after the most beautiful beach we visited in Hawaii, you far surpassed it though
Your Birth Story . We arrived at the hopsital & checked into room 103 for a scheduled induction due to low amniotic fluid levels & small growth. Dad & I settled in watching TV & waiting for things to get started. At 6:30pm the nurse started the pitocin. At 8:00pm Grandpa & Grandma Karsten, Chad, Danielle & Craven & Steve & Lindsey came up to the room to visit. Around 8:30pm Dr. Kraker came & broke my water, I was dilated to 4-5cm. I was starting to think the contractions weren't so bad. Over the next hour however, they really started to pick up! By 10:30 I was begging for epidural. After having the epidural I was having no pain and enjoying the company. The nurse came & checked me at 11:45 after everyone (except Grandpa & Grandma) left and I was measuring at 6cm. The nurse assured us that I had several hours before delivary & that I should nap now while I could,so Dad & I settled in. Within minutes I was having some low pain & had to push the epidural button. I was watching your heartbeat & noticed that your heartbeat kept dropping down from 130's to the mid 70"s. The nurse came in & said that you weren't likeing me laying on that side, so I switched sides. After another 5 monites the alrams were going off & your heartbeat was in the upper 60"s. The nurse came in & said I needed to be checked. When she went to check me she stopped & said "oh, thehead is right here, your having this baby now"
love at first site | Home | 1st diaper change! | Some day these feet may walk on the moon, but for now they"ll just get kisses!
Our First Day Home Wednesday was our first full day home with you. The sleep deprivation had begun! You didn't sleep much the first night home, only sleeping if mom was holding you. We gave you your first sponge bath at home & you didn't like it one bit! We had to take you to meet Dr. Rutkoski & check your weight. He confirmed you were perfect in every way. You had lots of visitors & lots of cuddles & kisses

You love spending time outside and we have spent many a hours lounging by the pool. You weren't so sure about your first swim, but we're sure you'll come around. You take most of your baths out on the back deck. We are loving you so much!
