FC: The making of Barons CreekSide
1: (From the first edition 2008) This book is dedicated first of all to my father Peter back in Switzerland. He turns 86 in a few days (July 15th, 2008) and I produced this book as HIS birthday present. He has been a very adventurous man himself and I guess he is "kind of responsible" for the fact that I turned out the same way. Since he can't travel overseas anymore, the only way to share Barons CreekSide with him is through words and pictures. Here "Paps" is my birthday present to you! Secondly, this book is dedicated to all the good man and women from Switzerland and Texas who help(ed) us create and operate this little "Garden of Eden". We could not do it without ya ll. And then a very big hug to our guests! What would Barons CreekSide be without you? YOU bring it to life. Zug/ Switzerland July 2008 Daniel
2: Prelude: In 2001 - 44 years old, living in Switzerland with a Phd in food scoence- I decided to sell my cereal company and a chain of pet food super markets. I had a great desire to explore the world! During the following 4 years I traveled to all 5 continents and explored more than 100 countries all over the world. In 2006 -on a road trip in an RV from from L.A. to Florida- I spent a night in Kerrville ,TX when someone said: "You should swing by Fredericksburg on the way out". Pulling onto Main Street triggered something and I decided to spend a night on this property which had one guest cabin, the Barons Log Cabin. The next morning, i looked around the property and "out of the blue sky" decided to buy the property and to build a little village. Today its Barons Creek Side! It's that easy :)

51: Second edition 2013 The first edition I dedicated to my father in 2008 This second edition just as much is dedicated to him as "Paps" never ever made to Texas having developed Alzheimer's . I got a phone call in May 2010 that he suffered from a ruptured aorta when I was here at Barons CreekSide and jumped on the plane immediately. He came out of his coma the moment I stepped in the hospital room but then passed away very peacefully 10 days later. His friends told me after the funeral: "We sure know your Barons CreekSide book extremely well, as Paps would go to the bookshelf to grab it and show it to them every single time they came by. So I am very happy that this book probably was the very best present I ever gave him. "Paps, if it had not been for you, Barons CreekSide would not be! And by now over 15.000 guests have spent wonderful moments here, countless couples got married here, many men have proposed here, certainly many babies were made here :) and we even have two past guests who wanted their ashes spread here. What a wonderful little garden of Eden Daniel
