 Mercury: a METAL
Mercury is: | Lustrous, malleable, ductile, and conducts heat and electricity. It also reacts with some acids to form oxides. | Mercury is not magnetic in its liquid state.
Mercury in its solid and liquid state.
Mercury vs. Boron | Mercury is in the top 10 most amazing elements (unlike Boron)! Elemental boron is rare and poorly studied because it is extremely hard to prepare. Mercury is used in thermometers, barometers, manometers and sphygmomanometers. It is also used as an electrolyte and is found in many electrical switches.
Boron is only used in laundry products, fireworks, (boric acid) is used for antiseptic, cookware and plant food. That means mercury has more uses than boron.
Amazing Facts About Mercury | Mercury is the only liquid metal! Its boiling point is 356.58 degrees Celsius. Its melting point is -38.842 degrees Celsius. Mercury is rarely found in nature. Mercury is obtained from cinnabar by heating the cinnabar into a vapor and condensing the vapor.
Hg | 80 | Mercury 200.59 | What Mercury looks like on the Periodic Table of Elements:
In how many wonderful ways does Mercury cooperate with other elements??? | Mercury forms alloys with other metals such as: gold, silver, zinc, and cadmium! It also forms compounds with other elements such as: Chlorine, sulfur and oxygen!
Who does Mercury work well with????? | Chlorine | Sulfur | Oxygen
