 My Bloody Nose
One day I was on a walk on a hot summer day with my friends John, Kate, and Megan.
We were all playing soccer and having a fun time when i realized that my nose started to bleed.
i ran over to my friends to get some help to stop the bleeding when John told me to sit down, lean my head forward, and to put pressure on my nose.
John used to get nose bleeds all the time, so he knew exactly what to do. He told me to stay calm, hold a tissue to my nose, and to keep my head tilted down.
He explained to me that tilting my head back may cause me to choke on my own blood, and talking would make it bleed even more.
I sat down and put pressure on my nose for 15 minutes to wait for it to stop bleeding.
I asked John why my nose started bleeding, and he told me that it was because of the dry air.
Since the air was dry and humid, breathing through my nose dried up the mucus membranes inside my nose which always need to stay moist.
When the mucus membranes dry up, it causes them to bleed. They will stay bleeding until they finally get moisture back to them.
My nose finally stopped bleeding and we continued our game of soccer on that long summer day.
