He's so helpless.... | July 2008 | August 2008 | September 2008 | Jan 10, 2009: While dining at Bertoldi's at 8:30 pm for Dominic's 31st birthday, I went to the washroom and noticed some spotting. I decided to inform Dominic when he finished his beer. We proceeded home to finish packing and tend to Charlotte and made it to St. Joseph's hospital around 10:30 pm. I indicated high blood pressure and had to have a catheter at 1:15 am and was informed that I would be induced later on in the morning. We watched season 3 of Lost and waited in anticipation.... My water was broken at 10 am on Jan 11th and everything was progressing very slowly. I felt very uncomfortable and kept changing positions every 5 minutes due to pain and pressure in the lower back. I was receiving oxytocin to increase the intensity and frequency of my contractions but plateaued at 7 cm at around 7 pm. You arrived at 1:23 am on Jan 12, 2009 by c-section and on daddy's birthday. What a wondererful present!
25: Monday January 12, 2009 1:23 am 7lbs 8oz | Adler Deacon
26: May 2010 | Sept 11, 2010: After dining at Relish in the village I felt a little uneased in my tummy. Maybe it was the cheese in the James Carville burger that set me off...after all, we joked about asking them to rename the burger The Inducer. But nothing happened that night. Sept 12, 2010: Around 10 pm ish I was scrapbooking when I started feeling some cramping. I called the midwife and was visited at home to access my progress and blood pressure at around 1 am. I was only 2 cm dilated and couldn't find a comfortable position and ended up watching movies at first and then pacing back and forth all night. Sept 13, 2010: At 7 am the contractions were a lot closer and stronger and it was time to go to St Joseph's hospital. We called ahead to let them know to expect us and they informed us that they were full, so we went to Victoria hospital instead. I was able to switch between the stability ball and birthing table with the aid of 2 midwives , a massage therapist, and a Tens machine. It was 14 hrs later when I was given an epidural to ease the pain and hopefully help me get through another .5 cms to be at 10 . I was able to sleep for 20 minutes in between contractions and gather my strength. After 2 more hours my progression was stalled at 9.5 cms for a total of 6 hrs before they recommended a c-section. | May 2010
27: Monday September 13, 2010 11:20 pm 7lbs 10oz | After 17 hrs born Daddy noticed that you were looking a little jaundiced and the midwives ordered some bloodwork to be done and it ended up that there was a blood incompatibility. You were placed under the photo therapy lights to bring your jaundice down and administered blood product. This did not help so they proceeded with a full blood exchange which scared both daddy and mommy very much. An MRI was ordered to ensure that there was no neurological damage and you were released at 6 days old. I managed to stay a 4th day with you at the hospital but had to go home without you for 2 days. It was very upsetting for us that you couldn't come home with us and when we arrived to take you home we ended up waiting all day for your release and were happy to finally have you home with us. | Cameron Elise
