FC: My Teeth Met the Ground
This is dedicated to my family for helping me get through this tough time. By Eleanor King
I'll never forget that Father's Day.Not because of my dad because of me and my teeth.Let me tell you how it happened. It was Father's Day and I was looking forward to a day with my dad.
My dad asked me,"Would you like to go on a bike ride?"I wasn't sure if I really wanted to go or not but I really wanted to spend some time with my dad so I went.My dad said,"Hold on a second,I have to get a few things."As I waited I got on my bike and started to bike around.
My dad came back out and said,"We're ready to go!"While we were biking I was chatting to my dad.I looked over at him and before I knew it my teeth had met the ground.(My two front, adult teeth came out). Some how I managed to blurt out the words,"My teef."My dad had no idea what I meant but then he looked to the right and saw two huge white things lying on the ground.
My dad ran me inside and yelled,"We have an emergency!"I could tell my mom didn't know if it was just a cut or if it was serious. After she found out what happened she tried to stick my teeth back in my mouth. It wasn't working.
The dentist wasn't open so we drove to the emergency room.A nice nurse put me in a wheel chair and wheeled me into my room. They made me put this gown sort of thing on and they put my teeth in my cheeks. It's apparently the best way to keep teeth alive.
Finally the dentist wheeled me to another room.I was terrified as we turned the corner at the end of each and every hall.We got to the room and my heart was pounding out of my chest. The dentist gently placed my front teeth back into their sockets. She then wrapped a blue plastic band around my teeth and glued it to them.
The dentist rolled me into the check out room. When my parents weren't looking, the person at the check out desk said to me in a whisper,"You can force your parents to take you out for ice-cream because thats about the only thing you can eat."I was tired and sad and I was not looking forward to this summer. All day long I would be sitting on the couch doing nothing,I couldn't play,I couldn't go to camp, and I could barely talk. The bad luck doesn't end
though my teeth heal right before school starts.
