4: Appearance and Life Span Norwegian Elkhounds can be silver, gray, or black. Their size is medium, and their group is the hound group. Their weight ranges from 40-55 pounds, although the Males usually weigh 50-55, and the females usually weigh 45-50 pounds. Their height usually ranges from 19.5-22 inches, up to the shoulder. The males usual height is 20-21 inches, and the female is usually 19-20 inches. Their life span is usually 12 to 15 years. Page 4 Page 3

6: Uses of Work and Origin Their origin is Norway. They can live anywhere, but their date of origin is ancient. Their uses of work were for hunting. Their quarry is Elk, Mountain Lions, and Bears. They were originally used for hunting Moose though. Todays use of them is for a companion. Page 6
8: Facts About Norwegian Elkhounds 1. The Norwegian Elkhound's outer coat is thick, hard, and straight. The undercoat is soft and dense. 2. The Norwegian Elkhound has other names such as Norsk Elghund, and Norwegian Moose Dog.
