In 2012 I became one of the first members of the Dragon Rugby Girls Team. When I started playing I did not expect the sport to become such a big part of my life but now it is part of what defines me. The Dragon Rugby logo symbolizes me, my team, and the drive and strength we all have. It is this logo that lets people know who I am and what I love to do. | August of 1996 was the month and year in which I lost my mom to a heart disease. It was two months from my second birthday. My mom had heart problems from the time she was a teenager, the disease had just finally won. The American Heart Association symbolizes the loss my brothers and I had to endure, but also the support and help that my mom received.

My life has had many ups and downs but all of the obstacles I have overcome have left me strong and with a strong sense of independence. This woman symbolizes that independence. She symbolizes my determined spirit, my hardworking personality, and my abilities to problem solve. She does not rely on others to reach her dreams, and neither do I. | Milwaukee has been my second home since I was very young. When I began my college search, the first place I started was at UW-Milwaukee. The Milwaukee Panther logo symbolizes my pride and joy to be a Panther. In the fall of 2014 UW-Milwaukee will be my new home. UW-Milwaukee symbolizes the next chapter in my life.

Of course I value things like honesty, respect, and loyalty, but one of my most important values is hard-work. Whether it is in school, on the rugby field, during volunteering, or at my job, I strive to put all of my effort into what I am doing and work to the best of my abilities. I have never had things handed to me, so at a young age I learned that I need to work for the things I desire. | My education is very important to me. I have always been an excellent student, always getting A's and B's, but I worked very hard for that. My ambition is to become a lawyer, and with that comes a lot of schooling. No one in my family has gone to college and made something of themselves, and I want to break that cycle. I value the importance of school and learning.

A normal part of my week consists of finding time to go to the Boys and Girls Club and volunteer. Volunteering is how I give back for all of the things in my life that I have received whether physical or just enlightening. I have become a person who some of the kids at the Boys and Girls Club look up to, and it inspires me to continue to give back to my community. | When I got my first job as a waitress, I started paying for a lot of my own things. I am not someone who likes to be late, so when bills started being addressed to me, like my phone bill and my insurance, I always make sure that they are paid on time and in full. Being on top of my bills creates a trusting relationship with the people I do business with and relieves stress from my life.

Obtaining my license was probably one of the best times I had in high school. Getting my car was also great because it allowed me so much more freedom. My car is part of what defines me because I am someone who likes to be independent and I would rather drive myself than have others drive me. It also gets me back and forth from Milwaukee where my grandma and boyfriend live, and they are two very influential people in my life. | Rugby is a huge part of my life so the cleats I wear during practice and at the games really help to define me. They are covered in mud and very worn out, but that just gives them personality. They represent my love for rugby and the 110% effort that I put into every practice, and every game. Every time that I wear them I know that I am about to have the time of my life.

I started waitressing when I was 15. I really enjoyed my first waitressing job because I got along great with the customers, my co-workers, and the job was not too hard. When I got my second job, it was also waitressing. My apron represents me because it shows that I am a waitress. The best part about waitressing is that I interact with many different people and it gives me an opportunity to always improve my communication skills. | In my generation, taking pictures is a huge part of every social gathering. Some people even obsess over taking pictures of themselves. My camera represents me because I love capturing every moment. My boyfriend lives two hours away from me so when I see him we always take pictures so that we can look back at them and reminisce about the time we spend together.

I choose to surround myself with people who have the best intentions and not only push themselves but push me. My friends help to define who I am because we share common interests and goals. They are the people in my life who lift me up when I am down and challenge me to always do my best. They symbolize the love and care that I hold for people who are close to my heart. | One of the greatest achievements I have had while in high school was becoming captain of the Dragon Rugby Team and MVP. I worked extremely hard to obtain those titles. Being captain symbolizes my ability to lead others, be a team player, and a person who motivates others. Although I am still learning so much about the game, I also get the opportunity to teach my teammates.

My entire family smokes, so naturally people think that I smoke as well. They could not be further from the truth. I find smoking to be very disgusting, and I just do not like harming my body in that way. Not smoking is something that I value because I feel like I am preventing myself from a lot of future harm. I believe that there are better ways to socialize than to go and have a cigarette. | One hidden talent that I have is dancing. I have never had lessons but it is something that I believe I am good at and something that I enjoy to do in my free time. Dancing is about as close as I get to creativity, and it symbolizes my free spirit and energetic personality. Dance is important to me when I feel stressed and overwhelmed. It helps me release my emotions.
