FC: Olson Family 2011
The tradition continues - New Years Eve at Randy & Lori's house. Ross and Jojo made it to 10:30 this year - and the rest of the kids got well past midnight.
Melon Man! | Ross loves watermelon more than just about anyone I know. And he loves being silly almost as much!
The first 2 days of February brought us a great blizzard, piling up about 16 inches of snow and lots of big drifts. Bennett was thrilled to have a snow day for his birthday. It took a while to convince Max that door wasn't opening.
 Happy 9th Bennett!
Ben opted for a slumber party this year. Ian, Zachary, Michael & Logan spent the night and played many hours of Wii and hex-bug racing. We had steak dinner (Ben's fave!) at Prime Quarter with Grandma & Grandpa the following night.
Pinewood Derby | Pinewood Derby 2011 was fun. The boys worked hard on their cars' design. Bennett's tank got 1st place in the Bear rank and Ross took 2nd in the Tigers with his StarWars Lego race car. The other tiger went on to win the grand prize. Ben made a little shrine for his two cars & trophies. Ross found a way to entertain himself and several others while waiting for the races to finish. We're so proud of both of them!
Jan/Feb 2011 | Kiddie & Kitty snuggles. Above - Ross shows off his Tony Hawk moves. | Snuggles from Silas | Go Pack Go! Super Bowl 45 Champs! Ben stayed up for the WHOLE (late) game
Great rental house on Gile Lake Flowage
We spent a few days at Indianhead mountain for a ski weekend while the teachers were on strike. The boys and I took lessons on the new gear we bought at Hoofers in December. Cool, breezy, fairly icy conditions, but still lots of fun!! | Feb 18-22
1st Grade Field Trip | Madison Children's Museum | My little group consisted of Ross, Oliver and Miella. We had so much fun!! | 3/8/11
Ross receives his Tiger Badge. Bennett gets his Bear Badge and is chosen to dance with our guest, Art Chegony - so cool! 3-9
Our new fuzzy babies were hatched & moved in on 3/21. Love at first peep!
 Lamb Barn
Spring Break ~ 3 Bears Lodge & Necedah Wildlife Refuge April 22-24 | We spent most of spring break around home this year, but met the Seffrood family at 3 Bears Lodge for a weekend of fun and swimming. We stopped at the Wildlife Refuge to see some Cranes, but only saw one heron. Most of the area is under water - including the area where the cranes are nesting. Maybe next time!
 April 2011
Easter morning was fast and early! We kept Ben reading from 6 until almost 7, then let him wake Ross. They found their baskets and all the chocolate eggs in minutes! | A cookout and egg hunt (500 eggs!) with friends at the Wichern's house. It was a cool, breezy day, but we still managed to get a bit of a tan. And the kids all had a fantastic time! | Egg Hunt | Reading Lights and Baseball Gear from the Man with the Ears!
Easter project at Legacy: Ben made a ninja-chick & Ross made a pooping chick.
Anya is pretty excited to have her own swings! Anya also discovered Ben's favorite cereal - Cinnamon Toast Crunch! YUM! | The end of an era. The playground moved out to Amber & Zac's house
After much ado, we finally got a good picture of everyone but Ross. He made a face in EVERY picture but one. The one where the other 5 weren't smiling. It took a while, but we manage to merge the two photos. Never a dull moment. And Mom & Dad were really surprised! | Happy 40th Mom & Dad!
Your smile brightens my day | Brunch at St. Francis and birthday dessert at mom's has become a great tradition. As well as stopping at the playground on the way out. It was a beautiful day and everyone had a great time.
 Mother's Day
Madison Mud Run | The Woodall Training/TRX team did great at the mud run! Julie, Dan & I got mighty muddy! And we found Joey afterwards. Fun day. Ross says his favorite part was the guy spraying the hose into the mud pit at the end yelling "move it soldiers!" | May 15
The annual Mother's Day trip to the arboretum moved out a week due to weather, but was still beautiful! Thankfully the lilacs were a week behind this spring too.
 Monona Memorial Day Parade
 O'Fitchburg Days Fireworks & Carnival
Fishing Trip June 10-15 | We spent several days of fishing fun with Fernies & Jalberts - we brought home lots of fish and laughed a lot! We caught so many tiny little fish we started taking photos of them. I even hooked a snail! The wildlife was great: loons, herons and a huge eagle in the tree right next to us!
Miller Park Brewers 4 - Cardinals 3 | Grandma & Grandpa took the boys to a game while we were gone. They left at the 7th and the boys slept all the way back to Madison. A fun time was had by all - the highlight for Ben was a homer by Prince Fielder! The bobble heads didn't survive the week, though.
Silas Turns One | You can tell it's good if you get cake in your ears!
Ross celebrated with a few friends sleeping over. We watched Harry Potter movies (we even made Butter Beer) He loved his gift - a new basketball hoop! He showed off his consecutive baskets (10 of 12!) the first day. Happy birthday, little Roo!! | Orland, Oscar & Ross dive into DQ ice cream cake
We got orioles this year! Ross saw a rainbow and really wanted to go find the pot of gold. The chickies are growing up - we'll have eggs in a few weeks! Ross is the fastest chicken-catcher of them all! We celebrated 12 years with a glass of wine in the garden and a fire in the chimnea.
It appears the only picture I didn't get on Dad's 65th was one of him!!
Welcome Home Hunts! | We welcomed Randy, Lori, James and Jojo home from Australia with a cook out and a play at APT
Rose came to play and she & Ross spent lots of time hanging out with the chickens. It was a great day with a good friend!
Volcanoes Baseball | We had a great season, and finished off with Ben getting a hit and scoring a run in the last game he played. He was one HAPPY boy!!
 The Redwings
Many fun times were had up north this summer. We spent lots of time in the water and made the usual trek into Superior to visit family. The pack of great-grands running around at Grandma Lier's house is so much fun to watch but they're all growing up too fast. We had some wacky weather one day and caught up a bit on our reading. Steve and I even got to sneak out on a golf date!
Great times in Superior as always. Silas is days from taking off running. Lunch out with Gigi, Shamrock pizza at Grandma Baba's, climbing trees - this is the good stuff! | July
 Kim's birthday party @ Karen & Paul's
American Players' Theater | Date night with Mary & John
 Chicago ~- Aug 6&7
 Mother-Daughter Weekend
Dirty Girl Mud Run Johnson Creek 8.20.11
 Heather & Josh 8 - 27 - 11
Finally! :) It was a beautiful wedding and a great time with family we don't get to see as often as we'd like. Amber & I discovered Ben takes longer than Norm to take a picture. And Bennett made a new friend in Johnathon (Awesome!! He's my cousin too?!)
More adventures at the Olson house while we were up for the wedding.
Happy Birthday Anya! | We celebrated Anya turning 4 with a party and cake. The kids had a sleep-over while Steve & I were at a play. They were worn out early!
 Summer Scouting Events
Scout Camp at Ed Bryant, and fishing with the pack.
Bennett is off to a great start in Ms. George's 4th grade, though he's bummed neither Zachary nor Sonia are in his class. Luckily, Zachary and Michael have changed after-school programs, so we see them at Legacy Academy every day!
Ross is so excited to see his friends and loves Maestra Bettancourt's class. His good buddy Cody was waiting for his bus to arrive so they could walk in together. 2011-12 is looking to be a great year! Ross has decided to look 'studious' in his photos this year, hence the pose.
 Fat Tire 9/17
The guys all had a great race this year. Trail conditions and weather were perfect! And Steve & Ray finally beat Jason.
There was much golf in our lives this year - outings with Amtelco & Leonardo Academy, and a benefit with Wicherns.
The annual golf outing returned to Rhinelander this fall. We had cold, rainy weather for much of the weekend, but still had a great time and many laughs. Linda H and Claudia won the new traveling prize for best overall average scores for the weekend. And, as always, Shannon missed the couples pictures - but we managed to get her on a re-take. Next year we're headed somewhere SOUTH!!
 00:09:27.41 | 00:09:58.29 | Timberwolf Trample 2011
Corn Maze | The Leonardo team met at the corn maze for an afternoon of fun. Ben, Ross and Anya took off ahead of the group and gave us a good scare, but thankfully were smart enough to walk straight through the rows to the tent. We collected our kids & free pumpkins and headed to Sprecher for some warmth and good food!
Our 2nd trip to 3 Bears this year - cranberry time! There are new cut-outs to play with, and the boys took on the leaf. Ben still prefers not to ride the tube slides and Ross says he tried the body slide, but we have no witnesses...
A short, but wonderful visit from Walker and Courtney, and Max's birthday party. We definitely need more visits like these!
 Trick | or | Treat!
 Haunted Hustle
Mary's 40th ! | We had a nice dinner out with old friends and new, followed by cheesecake!
Annual Chili Cookoff Nov 5 | After years of trying and failing to win Hottest Chili, I went for best taste with Holy Mole Chili...and won for hottest. Ha ha! | It was nice to see Becky & Joe, Torrie & Phil, Beth, Amanda and many more friends.
Anya & Silas spent the night while Amber & Zac had a night out. We hiked to the library and spent lots of time playing with the hens. Ben & Ross slept 11 hours and the Seffrood kids slept 13 on Sat night!- operation "wear out the kids" was a success!!!
Fall Scouting: Raking leaves at the zoo, feeding the giraffes, puppet shows, milk carton catapults (marshmallow wars!) and Aquanaut & Zoo Revue with the McFarland pack. We never run out of fun things to do.
Ms. George and Bennett | Maestra Betancourt & Ross | Open House - Nov 2011
A Family Walk-Run 5k with Woodall/TRX was a great way to burn some calories | and energy on Thanksgiving morning. I love that we share fitness too. :)
We have a great family to be thankful for!
We took the boys downtown to experience civic workings - the Recall Walker rally. We narrowly missed being there in time to get in a flash mob video. There were many, many questions, but it was a good educational experience. | This fall we acquired the love seat that goes with the big, white quicksand chair. The blue couch moved up to Ben's room as a place for DS Games and reading. | Oh, the funny things the guys have for dinner when I'm headed to book club. We had a good laugh at this, as it looks much like the Snoopy Thanksgiving dinner!
We attempted the annual gingerbread house again this year. Apparently when we put THAT much decoration on the roof, the entire house collapses, even with the requisite hour for the walls to dry. And the energy level of the boys definitely indicated someone who has had WAY too much sugar this afternoon. Better luck next year!
Cool Snowmen! | One of our favorite things - the weekend craft projects at Home Depot - we made pretty cool snowman napkin holders!
I chaperoned Bennett's field trip to the Capitol, History Museum and Veterans' Museum. Ms. George's class got a private performance from the Marshall Chamber Choir due to some misplaced lunches. What a blessing in disguise that was! | We learned about many different wars at the Veterans' Museum - the kids made a booklet with facts on each. Our favorite part of the history museum were the classic toys - Steve still has that GI Joe set in the bottom picture! | 4th Grade Social Studies Field Trip
Second Grade Winter Concert ~ ~ Songs of Peace Our favorite was Wave the Flags (sung at the 2011 world cup) They sang all the songs in English and Spanish and even did one with sign language. Great Show!
Ross says - I hope that's a Quiddich broom! (sorry pal, it's lacrosse gear!)
Holiday Memories Warm Even The Coldest Of Days | Christmas Time Brings So Much Pleasure When You Have Good Friends To Treasure
A Globetrotters game 12/29 with friends Deb and Zach. The boys were tired, but still wanted to take on the lines for autographs. Our favorite part was the Trotters sneaking up and pulling the pants off one of the Elite at the free throw line. | Harlem Globetrotters - 2011
