1: What greater thing is there for human souls than to feel they are joined for life — to be with each other in silent unspeakable memories. ~ George Eliot | " | "
2: Dear Birth Parents, Thank you for considering us as loving parents for your child. We admire the incredible amount of courage and strength you have, and hope that our words will help you understand who we are and the kind of parents we will be. Our home will be a safe place for a child to grow and thrive. It will be full of unconditional love and support. Any child will be welcomed into our family with open arms and every member of our large extended family is as excited as we are...even our dogs. Adoption has played a very important part in forming Stephanie's maternal family as five of her cousins joined the family through international or domestic adoption. Our family knows first-hand the blessing that adoption is and fully embraces it. A little about us: Jamie is the owner of a garage door business, which is a trade that he learned from his father. Jamie takes being a provider for his family very seriously. He has many faithful customers and has earned the respect of many of his industry peers. We are grateful that his job allows for a flexible schedule and will enable him to be home during the daytime. He is known as Uncle Jamie to many of our friend's children and anxiously awaits being a stay-at-home father. His favorite hobby is mountain biking and he also loves to work on cars. | Stephanie is the office manager for a local orthodontic practice. She loves her job because it allows her the opportunity to interact with many different types of people. Outside of work, she enjoys volunteering for organizations that help those in need. This past February she went to Ethiopia with the Visiting Orphans organization and she fell in love with the country and its people. She hopes to return to there and also to visit Uganda and Kenya in the next few years. Stephanie enjoys cooking and eating vegetarian meals and is an avid animal lover. We met at track practice in high school in 1991, started dating shortly after, and haven't looked back since. We were married 14 years ago, on June 28, 1997 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Our relationship is built on trust, commitment and respect, all values that we hope to pass on. Our happiest times are when we are together. We live a comfortable and relaxed life where family and fun are the main focus. We love doing things together like mountain biking, playing with our animals (four dogs and two cats), various water sports, camping, and cooking. We also absolutely love living in Oregon. Our home is just 45 minutes to the beach and an hour and a half to the mountains so we can easily find fun in the sand or the snow. Our diverse neighborhood is
3: Any child we adopt will always know the special role their birth family has in their life. We look forward to visits, sharing pictures, letters, and all of the adventures that an extended family will bring. We would be honored to have the opportunity to meet you and to give you the chance to ask any questions you may have for us. We look forward to getting to know you better too. We are very excited to begin this new chapter in our lives. No matter what decision you make, we wish only the best for you and your baby. All our love, Jamie and Stephanie | safe, friendly and close to parks, schools, and activities. We have a nice home with a huge backyard that is perfect for children and dogs and has a great spot just waiting for a swing set. We plan to plant a vegetable garden next spring. We have friendly neighbors and we enjoy barbequing with them on weekends. We also have a very diverse and close extended family that is extremely excited for us to add to it. We hope that you will be able to meet all of them someday and feel first-hand the love that they all have to give. We get together multiple times a year for holidays, mountain biking, Portland Trailblazer games, Seattle Mariners games, golfing, skiing and snowboarding, or sometimes just a laid back dinner together. We feel that love, trust, honesty, kindness, unselfishness, and respect are critical values — not only for parenting but also in life. We think that a child will learn best by watching others demonstrate good values, not simply talking about them. Our entire family is dedicated to being the best role models we can be and to passing on these values, which we hold so dearly.
4: Here we are at one of our favorite places to be –– Stephanie's Aunt and Uncle's house. They have a 13 acre Christmas tree farm and we love picking one out every year! There is also a large pond which is perfect for picnics, swimming and fishing. With a view of five local mountains, Uncle Joe likes to call it "Heaven on Earth" –– and we agree. It's a beautiful, peaceful, fun place to be and is the gathering spot for most of our family get-togethers. We can't wait for our child to get to play at the farm and help find our family the perfect tree! | Fun Memories
5: Bike riding in the Tillamook State Forest | We both enjoy skiing and snowboarding. We are fortunate to be able to go often to Whistler Mountain in Canada for snow fun in the winter and mountain biking in the summertime. This particular trip was with our friends JC and Tiffany who recently formed their family through adoption. | The Great Outdoors
6: Proud Godmother of Baby Emily | Jamie is my perfect match and I'm extremely thankful for our relationship. He can make me laugh like no one else can, even after 23 years! The only thing I have ever wanted to be when I grew up is a mom. From the time I could talk that has been my only answer when I've been asked the question. I am an animal lover to the core –– I even rescued a chicken from the road once. What a ridiculous sight! I have always had a strong love for Africa in my heart –– especially Ethiopia. I love all kinds of music –– some of what is on my iPod might surprise people! | Having fun with the boys of Korah, Ethiopia | Yearly trip to the beach with my friend Monica | Photo shoot for my office | 1 | A Little Bit About Stephanie | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5

I love to recycle and reduce my consumption of disposable things as much possible. I love my stainless steel straws! My favorite TV show is Modern Family –– I love to laugh and this show makes me laugh until I cry nearly every episode. The Lorax by Dr. Seuss is my all time favorite book. At my request, my Dad read it to me every night at bedtime. We both eventually memorized it and I still know it by heart. | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | 10

We are very fortunate to get to see them all often. | Stephanie's parents Jim and Kathy | Stephanie with younger siblings, Alisa and Ross and their parents | Stephanie's Family | They are a relaxed, loving, accepting and funny group of people. 19: Even though you are now about to close this book, please consider us an open one. We are happy to answer any questions that you may have to help you decide if we are the right family for you and your child. We really appreciate you taking the time to get to know a little bit about us. We are both very much looking forward to being parents and we pledge to you that we will do our very best to raise a happy, kind, compassionate, independent, fun child who knows his or her unique story. Please know that whether you would like an open adoption or would at this time prefer a closed one, we will always consider you a member of our family. We will honor and respect you and raise your child to know what a difficult and loving decision you made for him or her. Celebrating your child's heritage is something that we feel is critical and are very excited to do. Not a day will go by that your child does not hear and feel how much unconditional love we, our family and our friends have for them. | We will provide them with all of the tools and education they need to pursue their passions and become the person they were meant to be. We are looking forward to reading bedtime stories, baking cookies, silly knock-knock jokes, riding bikes, kissing boo-boos, swinging at the park, swimming lessons, family dinners, helping with homework, Disneyland, the tooth fairy, Easter Bunny, Santa Claus and all of the things that go along with being a family. Most of all we can't wait to share the love that we have for each other with a child. Peace, good health, strength and love are what we wish you during this difficult time and always. All our love, Jamie and Stephanie
