32: We drove the full length of the gorgeous Utah Highway 12, designated as an All American Road because of its unusual beauty. | The road traverses the Dixie National Forest on the north end of the Grand Staircase National Monument and begins with a drive through Red Canyon (above). Left: on our hike to Mossy Cave

33: Escalante Petrified Forest offered stunning views of the surrounding plateaus and also contained several large wooden logs that had 'petrified' over time and turned into stone! The picture above and the spread next page is of the 'badlands' scenery that we encountered as we continued our drive.
