3: Dear Baby Girl, How excited, yet nervous we were when we found out we were expecting another sweet baby! Your big sister Makenzie was born just 5 months before we found out we were expecting you. She had a serious birth defect and she passed away 36 short, sweet hours after she was born. We knew it was a risk to have another baby but for some reason, we knew that there was another sweet spirit that was supposed to come to our family. It was a stressful 9 months filled with lots of ultrasounds, kidney stones and reassurance from my Dr. I started to have contractions about 6 months with you, so I had to be very careful. We were very relieved when we went to your 20 week ultrasound and found out that you were healthy and you were a GIRL! Tears filled our eyes...but until we held you in our arms, we were still not fully relieved. We were induced a week before your actual due date. We went to MrKay Dee Hospital at 10pm on 10/17. I was already dilated to a 4 upon arriving. We walked the hallways for awhile as they were trying to reach Dr. Smithing. (He was just arriving home from a trip). By about midnight, I was already to a 6. Dad and I called Grandma and Alisa and told them they better head on up since I was progressing fast. Well my Dr. had a different set of plans. He was wanting to get some shut eye, so he told the nurses to try to slow my labor down until the morning. Well, that's what they did. The contractions started to get a bit painful and around 2:00am I asked for the epidural. I was very relieved that the epidural worked this time! We tried to sleep a little and we talked and laughed. The labor was very peaceful. At around 5am, the nurse was upset at my Dr, so she came in and just broke my water. By about 8:00am you were ready to come! I only had to push about 3 times and you were here! You are so beautiful. As they immediately placed you in my arms, tears of joy ran down our faces. Words will never explain the depth of love that we felt as we held you in our arms. You have brought so much joy into our lives! We are so grateful that you are here and healthy and beautiful! We are so grateful to be your parents. We love you beyond words!

43: August August | August 27, 2011 Your first ear infection: Dad and Mom felt so bad that you were sick with your first ear infection. We took you do the Doctor and they put you on Amoxicillin. Two days later you broke out into an awful rash all over your body. Mom took you back into the Doctor and they put you on Omniceff. Three days later you broke out into another awful rash all over your body. You were so miserable. I took you in a third time to make sure that the ear infection was gone and it way so they didn't need to put you on any other medication. You are our first baby to be allergic to any kind of medicine. When you get bigger they will have us take you to an allergist to confirm your allergy. We did a lot of extra snuggling and holding time when you were sick. We felt so bad for our baby girl! We love you and are glad you were feeling much better after a few days.
