9: The year 2010 was a year of firsts for all of us. . . Together as a family, we spent our first full year in Ohio, we bought our first Prius (a lovely red 2008 model, which was the first time we ever owned two vehicles), and a few months later, we then bought our first blue Prius after the red one was totaled, and God showed us that He must still have a purpose for us Stauffers here on Earth . . . In 2010 Evangeline had her 1st Birthday, first tooth, first crawl, first step, first word, first split lip, first bite of grown up food, first sleep through the blissful night, first ride in an ambulance. . . Gabriella had her first day of 3rd grade, first successful attempt at riding her bike without training wheels, first airplane ride, first ear piercing, first multiplication timed test, first ride in an ambulance . . . Annelise has her first day of 5th grade, first successful attempt at riding her bike without training wheels, first airplane ride (that she can remember), first pair of glasses, first ear piercing, first science experiment for school, first ride in an ambulance . . . Tim had his first day of 9th grade, first experience at teaching kids to ride their bikes without training wheels, first facebook account, first season of High School Football, first year with more than one trip to the ER ( But thankfully none of these ER visits were related to football and none needed further treatment), first time he wore a tie (it was for a speech in English class), first ride in an ambulance . . . Erin had her first full year of parenting four kids, first blissful sleep through the night in almost a year, first experience with a kid who didn’t like any food, first concussion, first (and second) long trip alone in a car with four kids, first ride in an ambulance . . . Hans had his first full year of parenting four kids, first full year of playing in the Dayton Mandolin Orchestra, first full year working for Spectral Energies as a contractor at WPAFB, first phone call asking him to fly across the country to rescue his stranded family who had just been in a car accident . . . In case you missed it from all the earlier hints, in 2010 we were involved in a major car accident that had an impact on our whole family. We are still working through the after effects, but are daily reminded of how blessed we are and are increasingly grateful that we have the time, energy, and wherewithal to realize all we could have lost and share that joy with you. We were exceedingly grateful for every first we were able to experience this year, and we are happy to be able to share them with you! May the timeless message of the first Christmas fill your heart and home with joy today and throughout the coming year, - Hans, Erin, Tim, Gabriella, Annelise, and Evangeline | Christmas letter 2010
