FC: The Effects of the Atlantic Slave Trade in Africa

Slavery in Africa was very different than slavery in America. In Africa the slaves were almost part of the family and were treated well.

Slaves were sold to other traders who sold them to American and European traders. Traders were soon kidnapping childeren and selling them.

Slaves were poked and prodded to see how fit they were. In Africa they did simple house chores and were respected. Slaves were either kidnapped or prisoners.

Slaves that were originally from contries more inland had never seen water and were often afraid of it. They had never seen a ship sailing on the water and would often have to be dragged aboard.
