FC: The Slave Trade

In Africa the slave trade was very different from the slavery in America. In Africa the slaves were treated kindly and in some cases as part of the family. Their status as part of the family was valued. They were given fairly simply household tasks. When the owner of the slaves were done with them in Africa they would sell them to people that would take them to America and they would become slaves there.

In the file you gave me it said when Olaudah Equiano finally earned his freedom and went home he found that his village and his family were gone.

So when he came home looking for his village he found nothing but grassland.

There is still slavery in Africa today but the slaves are treated kindly and as a part of the family.
