5: Orientation at Lido di Camaiore : August 21st - September 34th 2011. During Orientation we stayed at Hotel Columbo, where we could see the beach from our window. The mornings were spent in school learning iIalian and the afternoons were spent seeing Italy or enjoying our beach club.

6: Madama Butterfly Opera by Giacomo Puccini preformed in the open-air theater in Torre del Lago | August 22

7: Pisa August 26 Campo dei Miracoli houses the Duomo (11th-12th century), the Leaning Tower(1173), and the Camposanto (13th century) which was damaged during the last war. All of the building lean because of their shallow foundation and sandy silt subsoil.

8: S. Ermete Celebration August 28 2010 S. Ermete is the patron saint of Forte dei Marmi. People celebrate it with a huge outdoor market and a fireworks show. | Forte dei Marme

9: Luca 31 august 2010 | Luca is a Tuscan town protected by massively thick 16th-century walls. The tree growing on top of a building is a landmark of town and provides a remarkable view of the city.

10: Cinque Terre is a rugged portion of coast on the Italian Riviera. "The Five Lands" is composed of five villages: Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. Paths, trains and boats connect the villages, and cars cannot reach it from the outside.

12: Apuane Mountains | Antro del Corchia is Italy's largest cave system, about 60km long. The Apuane Mountians are composed of limestones and marble. After a 2 hour walk through the cave, a final orientation dinner was served at Restaurant Raffaello.

13: Known as "Little Athens" for it's marble studios, bronze foundries, and artisans and sculptures arriving from all over the world. We visited a mosaic artist who was working on completing a piece of Michael Jackson's memorial site. After seeing the churches of San Martino and Sant'Agostino, and Torre delle Ore, we had a quick gelto stop before heading out. | Pietrasanta | Pietrasanta
