FC: MAUI 2011 | magical | memories | paradise
1: After 14 months of planning,, we had an early flight out of Spokane on July 2 2011. Complete with departure fun from Johnson's. Arrival into Seattle and had fun taking in the Alaska boardroom. A safe arrival into beautiful MAUI at 11:20. | Of course our first stop was COSTCO! Maui Sunset B122 check in. Followed by our memory walk on Wailea Beach and then of course dinner at Da Kitchen in Kihei! Just the beginning of a perfect vacation!
2: A day to just sleep in and enjoy the moments! Morning snorkel at La Perouse Bay. Wild surf and waves at Makena Beach. Met "George" at Discount activities. Yes, suckered ourselves into the "condo" talk! A wonderful steak and shrimp dinner at the condo and our million dollar nightly Maui Sunset!
3: Had breakfast in Kihei. Spent a little time on our new beach find called Po'olenalena beach. Nice and quiet! Saw a couple taking wedding pictures! | Spent the 4th in Lahaina! Wonderful concert before the 8 minutes worth of Fireworks! Had Da Kitchen in the park for dinner.
4: Sunny breakfast on our Lani on Tuesday morning! Snorkel time at Four Seasons and a little beach time at Wailea. Back to the condo, but first Local Boyz #2! Up to Lahaina for the "condo" chat. Back to Kihei to book our Luau at the Wailea Marriott. Wonderful lazy time at our pool and then dressed and ready for Happy hour appetizers at FIVE PALMS! Watched a beautiful sunset from the beach!
5: We had Coconut prawns, Hawaiian ribs, and Maui Onion dip and chips! | COLORS OF PARADISE!
6: OUR DAY IN UPCOUNTRY This was one of our FAVORITE days on Maui. Started out early to go to Makawao-Cowboy Town to the Komoda Bakery-CLOSED! We did get to see their Famers Market which was about 12 booths! Loved the quiteness of the little Cowboy town. Had a fun roadside picnic | with the perfect view of the Maui ocean behind us. Ended up at the town of Ulupalakua. Such a fun little area, complete with a store and Maui's only winery. On our way back down we stopped at a goat cheese tourist attraction. Not much of an attraction but the goats were cute! | Roadside Picnic | Once back in Kihei, we headed to Makena Beach to watch the local boogie boarders and surfers only to realize that the condo keys were on the table. Had locked oursleves out!. Headed back a little early. | Cowboy town of Makawao
7: MAUI'S WINERY | SURFING GOATS! | Ulupalakua Store | Had a great barbecue dinner, complete with grilled maui sweet onions. Headed to the shops at Wailea to listen to Hawaiian music.
8: Up early for breakfast on the lani then up to Honolua Bay to snorkel. Had rain coming into the site. Along with a flash flood along the riverbed. Found a good spot at Napili Bay. to snorkel with turtles. Coffe time in Kaanapali. Farmers market at the Aquarium. Quick lunch at the condo and wonderful beach time at Po'olenalena Beach. LOCAL BOYZ #5! Great sunset dinner on our lani and our special Wailea Beach walk. | Immaculate grounds at MAUI SUNSET | Living Room at the Condo | Just another day in PARADISE!
9: Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away! Maui...you are taking our breath away!
10: SWEET ALOHA!\ Complete with lei greetings Kihei Cafe goodies for breakfast on the lani, Morning beach time at Makena Beach and then off to the airport to pick up Scott and Virginia. Made the usual COSTCO & WALMART stops. Got them settled into the condo, dinner at Da Kitchen, a small South Island tour and then....Local Boyz stop #6

12: Arrival into the Maui Swap Market in Kahului on Saturday. Around 200 vendors! | AMAZING FRESH PRODUCE | Scott finding the Maui bargins! | Dave catching up with the boys!
13: Just by chance we happen to pull into a very full parking lot on our way to the Maui Market and came upon a huge Outrigger racing event. So after the market we came back by and was able to watch a couple races. There were so many kids and these Outriggers were beautiful. We came back to the condo for a little while and then preparations for our Luau at the WAILEA MARRIOTT. | They took great care of these Outriggers.
14: July 9, 2011 Wailea Marriott Luau! | This was the picture perfect evening for the 4 of us. Perfect setting, perfect weather, amazing food, and fun to share in a Luau with friends! Seemed like it was an evening just meant to be!
15: My One and only! Lovin the Coladas! | Delightful desserts!
16: Let the Luau Entertainment begin | The night was filled with the wonderful traditions of a Hawaiian Luau. Complete with removal of the Kula pig from the pit, to the relaxing sound of the Hawaiian singers. Great meal and desserts!
17: The entertainment was amazing. The girls were so graceful and elegant, and the men put so much expression into their dances. It was fun to have narrator there to tell the story. | Some pictures with the entertaininers after the performance.
18: Sunday was our day to make our way up to the Haleakala Crater. It was clear, sunny and freezing cold! But we laughed and made the best of it. At the summit we could see the Big Island.
19: Journey down the mountain! | We had a fun time back down the mountain. Stopped in Makawao again for the Bakery..closed! Walked around a little bit only find that most of the stores open around 11:00a.m. Must be that Maui time thing! Stopped at some really cool areas to see some HUGE plants. (Kula area) | We ate lunch in Paia at a cute little place called Milagros. Scott said it was the best burger he had ever had. Dave and I had a burrito that was anormous! We loved the outdoor seating and enjoyed people watching | Shopping fun in Paia. Boys like the swimsuit shops!
20: After our trip to Haleakala, Dave Vriginia and Eileen had some restful beach time at Makena Beach. Scott took his rest time at the condo enjoying the air conditioner! Boys cooked an amazing dinner of steak, prawns and potatoes. With fun at the condo barbecues. Had our evening in Lahaina and showing them the fun night life it brings to the Island. | Guys doing the steak grillin'

22: Five Palms for Appetizers Complete with Coconut prawns, Maui Onion Dip, ribs and yes Sushi for me!

24: We love days like this when you can just enjoy what is around you. We slept in, had breakfast sandwiches by the Johnsons, had a little beach time at Wailea,#7 Shaved ice, dressed and ready to head to Lahaina for a day of "whatever" | School starts August 2nd!
25: Had a fun waterside table at CHEESEBURGER IN PARADISE | We had fun listening to these two guys sing in preparation for night time dinner cruises. | Story about the sailboat that wrecked on the reef one Halloween was once again confirmed by locals!
26: Finished our time in Lahaina, came back for a cozy barbecue at the condo and just enjoyed some down tome! | Just another day in Paradise!
27: May vacations be filled with relaxing sunsets, cool drinks and sand between your toes | We have just enjoyed sitting on our lani, watching the frogs and gecko's and a little Maui Gold pineapple!
28: HANA HIGHWAY HERE WE COME We did a quick snorkel trip south, then off we headed! | Chings Pond
29: The weather for this trip was just perfect! There had been some rain up in the mountains, so many of the easy to get to falls were really cloudy looking! | I think we decided this was a mongoose! | MADE IT HALFWAY TO hANA AT LEAST FOR THE BANANA BREAD! | Need we say more about the views! | Puohok and Hapuaene Falls
30: It's easy to lose track of time while on vacation! | Spectacular scenery | Me and my guy!

32: I did it.....I did it.... I did it! Third time was a charm! I think we got out enough on the way down that really helped out! So here is the proof WELCOME TO HANA! | WANTED TO MAKE SURE THE SIGN WAS WELL DOCUMENTED! | SCOTT FOUND A DRIFTING COCONUT!
33: Putting our feet offcially in Black sand beach! | While we were eating our picnic, there was a "local" who was showing some hotel guests how to net fish. Wish we could have seen them get something. | God's perfect signature to end of a perfect day!
34: Our day started out by having breakfast at Beach Bums in the Ma'alaea Harbor. Had a table outside where we could watch all the boats going in and out. These two little kids were helping the waitress. | COAST GUARD STATION-MAUI!
35: DISCOVER KA'ANAPALI We had never really spent much time up here, but really enjoyed just having the time to just enjoy watching people! | TIME AT THE HULA GRILL! | ON THE BEACHES OF MAUI, WE FORGET TO COUNT THE DAYS. | ALIKA NAKO'OKA
36: After our time in Ka'anapali, we hit the beaches! Virginia loved the beach at 4 seasons to float in! Followed by barbecue fun! | W A I L E A B E A C H | SAND-SATIONAL TIME
37: CONDO FUN! Lots of laughter tonight. Funny dinner choices... Geeen's porkchops Johnson's, king crab and hot dogs.! Poolside fun! Coconut was rotten! | SMILES
38: Found this new little bay called Napili Bay. Dave talked to the nearby condo resort so we had better entry access! TURTLES EVERYWHERE! | MY SNORKEL MAN! | Early morning snorkel up to Honolua Bay! Weather was so sunny and nice! | Trail that leads into the snorkel area,
39: Nothing like a good ole Hawaiian sunburn! You would think that at our age we would know better! | Afternoon lunch in Ka'anapali
40: LOSE YOURSELF FOR JUST A LITTLE WHILE! | LAHAINA FISH HOUSE | AMAZING FRIENDS
41: We had a delightful dinner right on the water. There was a Navy sub that was being protected by a Coast Guard vessel. Great dinner and the perfect last evening with our Maui travelers! | Local Boyz #9! Had a nice walk through Lanaina and saw this adorable dad and son! | How could it get any better!

44: Up early to enjoy one last morning on the beach and to make sure that my lei petals were in the quiet waves. Hawaiian tradition is told that when flowers are thrown in water it is their way to say "we wil return to the Islands!" | *Around 1200 miles travled *11 Local Boyz shaved ice consumed *54 bridges and 600 curves to HANA *8 wedding event watched *5 beaches visted *Bad Ass coffee mug located *2 bad sunburns *Spent more on a dessert than a meal *2 wet car keys *1 time locked out *Full moon MEMORIES TO LAST A LIFETIME! | MAHALO FOR A WONDERFUL VACATION | BREAKFAST ON OUR LANI
45: If my dreams could all come true-PARADISE would be in a little bungalow somewhere by the sea with you in my arms!
