S: Summer Vacation 2011
1: Papa Ben and Nana Nancy met the Stanfields in Cherokee, NC. We spent the night and attended the outdoor drama, "Unto These Hills," which tells the story of the Cherokee removal from North Carolina to Indian Territory
3: We also met Ben's cousin, Bill Jones, and his wife, Carry, from Georgia, and we all had dinner together in Cherokee. | Don't you think they favor each other?
4: The next morning we ate breakfast together, and Papa, Nana and Madelyn started their adventure!
6: We got on the Blue Ridge Parkway, a scenic highway that extends from North Carolina into Virginia, but had problems... | Seemingly miles from civilization, we heard a beep - it was the low fuel warning! We took the nearest exit and got fuel just in time!
7: We spent the night in Christianburg, VA. The next morning, we got back on the Blue Ridge Parkway, but Madelyn made sure we had plenty of fuel! | We stopped at scenic spots and picnic areas along the way.
8: We arrived in Williamsburg in time to visit Historic Jamestowne.
10: Independence Day at Colonial Williamsburg!
17: After we left Williamsburg, we stopped at a family history site in Virginia. James Goodwin was one of our ancestors.
18: Corolla, Outer Banks, North Carolina! 33: We visited the Whale Head Club and the Outer Banks Center for Wildlife Education
34: We went on a walk searching for wild horses, but this is the closest we got to them....

36: We also visited the Currituck Beach Lighthouse
