S: Kentucky/Michigan

OCTOBER 2010 Us three Cardona's, Manuel, Kylie and I (Chrissy) flew to Nashville, Tennessee . We were picked up by Denny & Pat (Papa & Grammy) and started an 8 day road trip. Starting in Tennessee, we will go to the Grand Ole Opry, The Hermitage (Home of Andrew Jackson). We will be joined by Uncle Delbert and Aunt Sondra who will also enjoy Nashville with us. I treated myself to my first pair of cowboy boots. We will then go to their home in Owensburo, Kentucky and enjoy their home on a golf course. We will stuff ourselves with Aunt Sondra's good cooking and sit around the dinner table for hours enjoying family time. We will continue our adventure and go to Three Rivers, Michigan where we will stay with Donna and Jim at their home on the lake. Absolutely breathtaking is the view. Fall colors everywhere, lakes and ponds every mile, crisp fall was in the air...just the exact description of what Fall is meant to be. We will visit with family and Kylie will meet 9 new cousins...all of them happy to see her. Uncle Bob and Aunt Lur was the inspiration for this trip. We wanted to see them while they are healthy and looking so great. Uncle Bob will delight us with stories of the past, it was wonderful watching his face light up as he talked about my dad and relived memories. We will spend one day visiting the Amish community, Shipshewana, Indiana. The food was like a Thanksgiving dinner and the fall decorations so beautiful. This trip was so full of fun, family, food...good times had by all.

We started our adventure with "The Grand Ole Opry." We did not know it was a live broadcast and was surprised with the live commercials. There was legends and today's artist that performed. After hearing about the opry for years it was a treat to visit. "Boom, Boom, Boom"

Nashville, Tennesse We took a tour of the city by bus and a walking tour. This is the capitol of Tennessee. The tall post are actually bells and they will play "The Tennessee Waltz" while we were there. Made me think of mom.

-THE RYMAN- the original Grand Ole Opry June Carter & Johnny Cash

The Country Music Hall of Fame....downtown Nashville... Roy Orbison where all the country musicians records their records....just a few of the sites we saw.

THE HERMITAGE We toured the Plantation of our 7th President, Andrew Jackson. Uncle Delbert and Aunt Sondra joined us in Nashville and spent the day with us sightseeing. We will follow them to their home in Kentucky.

Autumn Leaves Are Falling Down | GOOD TIMES

On the way to Kentucky, Uncle Delbert pulled over by a field and told us to get out of the car. We walked to a memorial plaque and Denny and I was told that the Joseph Barnett mentioned was our 5th grandfather. He had owned thousands of acres in that area...I researched at home and found out that he was a colonel in the army and a land surveyor. It is funny what will carry down thru generations...Uncle Delbert's true name is Joseph and he has a granddaughter named Hannah!!!

It was a lovely surprise to drive up the to the home of my Uncle Delbert & Aunt Sondra and see the beauty that surrounds them. Perfect weather and wonderful family times and southern comfort food made for a wonderful stay. We had our first taste of deep fried pickles and chocolate gravy over biscuits. Memories of mom flooded back as I tasted her bran muffins once again. Laughter and stories at the dinner table will aways make me look back and smile as we sat there for a couple of hours each night. We fell in love with Kentucky and it's rolling hills...what a beautiful place to visit.

Everyone must take time to sit and watch the leaves turn. ~Elizabeth Lawrence

I love the leaves, I do not know why. Is it their colors or how they fly? They crunch and crinkle Under my feet; I pile them up And take a leap! | I love the leaves, I do not know why. 26: Kylie met new cousins....9 to be exact. She loved all of them..but Molly was the best. They had so much fun going to an Apple Farm and a Pumpkin Patch. Getting to know new cousins is the best times ever.

Uncle Bob & Aunt Lur...the inspiration for this trip. I saw them in a photo album and decided I wanted to see them. And so a trip was planned.

SHIPSHEWANA INDIANA ------- a visit to the Amish

A fabulous time had by all!
