BC: Poetry is an action of grace as a fawn the horizontal energy so pure in the mind of the writer the joy if poetry is which you make of it

FC: The Black Garden

1: I choose this theme because its common for teens to have that first young love but in the end, end up with there feelings hurt . I just want to express how they feel . | hate | lies

2: Gwendolyn Brooks (1917-2000)

3: Gwendolyn's mother discovered her gift at the age of 7. Her mother encouraged her talent by exposing her to various forms of literature.Gwendolyn's early verses appeared in the Chicago Defender; a newspaper written primarily for the black community. In 1945 her first book entitled "A Street In Bronzeville" was published. From there she published Annie Allen which received the Pulitzer Prize for poetry.She was the first African American to receive this important award in poetry.

4: Elegy- sad and thoughtful poem of mourning An elegy can be up to 14 or more lines An elegy poem is mostly about the death of a loved one ,someone important etc.

5: You , Me, Us We hook up sat down made an agreement we vowed that. that we always be together through whatever As I think back when we had our good times & bad times, A tear run down my face As i look at my phone hoping, you would call I felt lonely cuz it never took place I stayed up all night thnkn .thinkn what could have change to make our love grow stronger, And what was happening to us erase ,Wishing things could be better, So that everything would stay the same

6: Claude Mckay (1889-1948)

7: At the age of twenty, Claude McKay published a book of verse called songs of Jamaica. In 1912, he travelled to the United States to attend Tuskegee Institute. He published two sonnets "The Harlem Dancer" & "Invocation" in 1917 and would later use the same poetic form to record his reactionary views on the injustices of black life in America

8: Sonnet- a sonnet consisting three quatrains and a concluding couplet with a rhyme scheme of abab cdcd efef gg

9: Love Lies The love you gave and lies you bring to me, Which leaves me pain within my broken heart But denial replaces trust < I seee Which is what i should''ve done from the start, I pray every night I nolnnger need As you speak to me all I hear is lies , And you have the nerve to continue it , Do it to my face and I try to hide , All i really want to do is end this , Its so hard for me to leave you alone , Its like you have somethings I cant let rest , Plus I am empty when Im Alone at home, But leaving you is something I knew best , So what I did was best for us to rest

10: Wawa | Wanda Phipps

11: Studied theater and English literature at Barnard College of Columbia University in New York City. Her poems have been published over 100 times in journals such as Agni, Exquiste Corpse, The World , Hanging Loose , Sensitive Skin etc.She is the author of Wake -Up Calls , Morning Poems .

12: Tanka- is a 5 line poem that comes from the Japanese these poems tend to be abut nature , love , season, or sadness. It has 31 syllables that g 5,7,5,7,7 for the 5 different lines

13: It was once true love But it all began to die Less calls and no text And our love took a totally Defect our love was over

14: Conelius Eady

15: Is the author of five books of poetry, most recently The Autobiography of a Jukebox published in 1996. The Gathering of My Name was nominated for the 1992 Pulitzer Prize in poetry , Victims of the Latest Dance Craze won the 1985 Lamont Prize from the Academy of American Poets. He Has many honors that include National Endowment for the Arts fellowship and Lila Wallace Readers Digest Writers Award.
