FC: The Day I Got My Dog | Written by: Devynn Wilderman Illustrated by: Devynn Wilderman..
1: This book is dedicated to Abby Niemi. | She is the best person in the world and I would like to thank her for all the things she has done for me.
3: I’m going to tell you a story about how I got my dog. It all started on a hot summer day in August. I was doing nothing when suddenly the phone rang. It was my friend Abby. She wanted to play. I went to her house immediately. We were playing on the computer when Abby’s sister came in the room with her friend. We were playing on the computer when Abby’s sister Hannah came in the room with her friend. Hannah wanted to go to the Humane Society to look at rabbits. Abby’s dad took us to the Humane Society to look at rabbits. Abby and I went in the rabbit room but because it had an un-describable bad odor we only spent a short time in there. After we looked at rabbits we looked at cats for about five minutes. After that we moved on to the dogs. First we went down one aisle of the dog area. It didn’t smell that much, just a light odor. There were a lot of pit bulls and noisy dogs. Then at end of the aisle there was a door. Above it was a sign that said, “Puppy Alley”. There were a couple people in Puppy Alley. There were lots of excited and hyper puppies. We looked at the puppies for just a second. Then we moved on to the second aisle of dogs. There we lost track of Abby’s sister Hannah and her friend Brooke. We also couldn’t find Abby’s dad. We were confused because we didn’t know where they went but we continued to look at dogs. Suddenly we saw Hannah, Brooke and Abby’s dad in the “get to know you” room. The “get to know you “ room is where humans meet with a dog or puppy. We knocked on the door and Abby’s dad let us in. They were with a cute brown puppy with white feet. The puppy jumped all over us and licked our faces. It was funny. We were all laughing. Then they decided to buy the puppy.
5: When my mom came to pick me up she asked if there was another puppy at the Humane Society. Abbie’s dad said, “yes, there is another puppy.” My mom, Abby and I drove down the road to the Humane Society, quickly before it closed. We saw the puppy and my mom asked some questions of a worker. But we didn’t take it to the “get to know you room,” and I didn’t get to touch the puppy, except through the bars. The next day was Friday. We had to go to my brother’s Middle School registration. After that we quickly sped down the road to the Humane Society. At the Humane Society, the doors were locked because we got there three minutes early. When the doors opened we went to see the puppy. We took the puppy into the “get to know you room.” She pranced about and jumped on us. She was mostly white with a red-orange mask, and a bit of ticking, too. Then my mom called Abby and she came over and played with the dog too. Soon we decided to buy the puppy. My mom had to fill out a form. But we had music lessons that afternoon, so we couldn’t take the puppy home – we had to put her on hold. After music lessons we came back to the Humane Society. On the way, we picked up my other friend Ciara. When we arrived at the Humane Society. My mom told the people there that we were picking up the puppy who was on hold, and she met with a person there who would answer her questions. While we were waiting for my mom, we thought of names for the dog. The name we decided on was, “Daisy,” as in Princess Daisy from Mario Brothers. Then the man went and got the puppy. After the man brought back the puppy, we bought a collar with daisies on it, and a purple leash with a strong black handle. After that we paid for the puppy and got a large crate. Soon, we took her home. The End.
